    摘要： Apparatus and methods are described including a trocar (40) that defines a lumen therethrough, configured to provide a passage through skin of a subject into a body of the subject. A cannula (60) is configured to be placed into the subject's body via the passage provided by the trocar, the cannula being configured to be slidable with respect to the trocar. The cannula includes an outer tube (64) having a first expandable element (77) disposed at a distal end thereof, and an inner tube (62) having a second expandable element (72) disposed at a distal end thereof, the inner tube being configured to be slidable with respect to the outer tube. A vacuum port (61) applies vacuum pressure to the first expandable element via a space (65) between the inner and outer tubes of the cannula. Other applications are also described.

    摘要： An active annuloplasty ring holder having a template that can be folded or pivoted to the side allowing the template to align longitudinally with the handle and enter the patient's chest through a small incision. The holder may include a mechanism to remotely detach sutures fastening the ring to the holder, thereby detaching the ring while avoiding the risk associated with introducing a scalpel into the operating field. A detachment mechanism may include a movable pin actuated by a pull wire that releases a plurality of holding sutures, or a hot wire, knives, or pull wire that severs the sutures. The holder may have a built-in light source for better visualization of the ring inside the heart. The holder may also have an optical means of visualizing the inside of the heart from the proximal end of the handle.

    摘要： A guide for an endoscope capsule includes a hollow sleeve. The distal end of the sleeve has attached an invertible member for fitting the capsule within. The invertible member may be inverted via hydraulic or pneumatic pressure to expel the capsule from the guide and into a desired location within a patient's body lumen. The guide may be attached to an actuator which contains a fluid and an actuating member. The actuating member pressurizes the fluid distally through the hollow sleeve thereby inverting the invertible member and expelling the capsule into the body lumen. The guide may be used with an endoscope or may be a stand-alone device.

    摘要： A method and device for treating a heart by assisting one or more heart chambers to expand during diastole. The method comprises providing a plurality of anchoring members; providing an elongate member and a release mechanism connected to the elongate member, the release mechanism being configured to releasably engage with each of the plurality of anchoring members; the elongate member being configured to store energy exerted by a heart chamber during systole, and release the stored energy during diastole to assist the heart chamber to return to an uncompressed state; selecting one of the plurality of anchoring members; positioning the elongate member transverse a chamber of the heart; and engaging the release mechanism with the selected anchoring member so as to releasably attach the elongate member to the selected anchoring member.
