摘要: Systems and methods for securely supporting devices such as reservoirs for surgical drains or catheters. In one embodiment, a surgical drain support apparatus comprises a sash having a first end and a second end. The sash has an opening such as a slit or a loop at the second end. When the first end is inserted through the opening, the sash forms an adjustable loop that is placed around a user's body (e.g., over the shoulder or around the waist), thereby supporting the apparatus on the user's body. The first end of the sash, which hangs downward from the large loop, has one or more compartments that hold surgical drain reservoirs. The first end of the sash also has a strap attached to it that can be wrapped around the user's body (e.g., around the leg) to hold the first end of the sash against the user's body.

摘要: An apparatus includes and ampoule and a protective sleeve. The ampoule includes a body portion and an openable end portion. The body portion defines an internal cavity for containment of a substance. The openable end portion is configured to be opened by removal of a distal section, which upon removal creates an opening into the internal cavity of the body portion for liberation of the substance from the internal cavity. The protective sleeve is disposed over at least a portion of the openable end portion. The protective sleeve provides a contamination barrier to prevent contamination of an outer surface of the openable end portion covered by the protective sleeve.

摘要: Embodiments of support apparatuses for hand-held tools are generally described herein. Other embodiments may be described and claimed. In an embodiment, this support apparatus comprises a disk-shaped member having a hole through the disk-shaped member. The disk-shaped member is configured to fit around a hand-held tool having an axial shaft through the hole. The disk-shaped member is oriented substantially perpendicular to the axial shaft and is configured to support a side part of a palm of a hand.

摘要: A medical device includes a vascular access device with an access port having a septum and a slit. The slit is formed on the inner surface of the body of the septum where the access port receives an access device that is separate from the vascular access device through the slit of the septum. A pivoting member in communication with the access port pivots when the port is accessed by an access device. The medical device may be used to control the volume displacement of a chamber within the medical device by decreasing the volume of the chamber by inserting a substance having a mass into the chamber, pivoting a structure associated with the chamber, and increasing the volume of the chamber simultaneously and commensurately with the mass of the substance inserted into the chamber.

摘要: A digital control system with a predetermined configuration automatically senses the connection to a network of a digital device that is not included in the predetermined configuration. The digital device is assigned temporary address information and placed in a temporary state, called a standby state, in which the digital device supplies information to the digital control system allowing a user to access the digital device including access of device information and configuration parameters. Using the device information and configuration parameters, a user selectively commissions the digital device by assigning a physical device tag, a device address, and a device identification, and installing a control strategy to the digital device, thereby placing the digital device in an operational state in communication with the digital control system. In the standby state, a user interrogates to determine the type of device that is attached, determines the role of the device in the context of the digital control system, assigns a physical device tag that assigns the determined role to the device, and verifies connection of the device to the network. Also in the standby state, the user initiates other applications applied to the device, including calibration of the device and configuring the device within the overall control scheme of the digital control system.

摘要: Eye-to-eye videoconferencing may be carried out through the use of a camera secured to an attachment mechanism. The attachment mechanism removably secures the camera to a screen portion of a display screen such that the camera is disposed between the display screen and a person engaged in videoconferencing. In one embodiment, the attachment mechanism is a suction cup. In one alternate embodiment, the attachment mechanism takes the form of first and second strips of double-sided tape. In another alternate embodiment, the attachment mechanism includes first and second magnets removably secured to front and back sides of a flat panel display. Magnetic force between the first and second magnets removably secures the camera to a screen portion of the flat panel display.
