摘要: A processor-implemented method, computer program product, and/or computer system predicts a future event. A first bit array, which describes characteristics of a single entity while experiencing a first event, is generated using values received from a set of physical test devices. After the first single entity experiences a different second event, a second bit array is generated from another set of physical test devices. The second bit array describes characteristics of an event cohort, which is made up of entities, other than the single entity, which also experience the second event, but which never experienced the first event. When another single entity experiences the first event, a determination is made as to whether that other single entity has characteristics from both the first bit array and the second bit array. If so, a prediction is made that the other single entity will also experience the second event.

摘要: An apparatus and method for providing electrostatic discharge protection. An exemplary micro tube spark gap type electrostatic discharge protection device comprises first and second separated spark electrodes hat form a spark gap therebetween. A high frequency noncoupled starter circuit is provided that comprises first and second high voltage electrodes disposed adjacent to the spark gap, and coupled to a high frequency voltage source. The high frequency voltage source generates a high frequency voltage that passes from the high voltage electrodes through the spark gap. The high frequency voltage (electric field) supplied by the voltage source falls just short of ionizing the gap, but provides energy to start a discharge. Once ionization occurs, the high frequency voltage is shut off, allowing for maximal energy loss. This results in a voltage versus time characteristic having a decreased ionization voltage and an increased power loss level after the high frequency voltage shuts off.

摘要: Apparatus comprising an appliance having three appliance contacts disposed on its bottom surface and an appliance docking tray that allows transfer of power and data. The appliance docking tray has a grid of electrical contacts disposed on its top surface, and switching apparatus, such as a processor and switch matrix, coupled to the electrical contacts of the grid. The switching apparatus electronically switches between the electrical contacts to determine which of the electrical contacts touch the appliance contacts when the appliance is disposed on the top surface of the docking tray.

摘要: Electrostatic discharge (ESD) elements facilitate protection of electronic components from ESD events. The ESD element includes a pair of spark gaps between a first side and second side of the ESD element. The first side of the ESD element includes a peaked portion and a substantially planar portion. The second side of the ESD element includes a peaked portion opposite the substantially planar portion of the first side and a substantially planar portion opposite the peaked portion of the first side. This asymmetry facilitates use of peaked emitters regardless of the polarity of the charge applied to the ESD element while further facilitating the use of more optimized receiver surfaces opposite the emitters.
