The occupant safety device comprises a support structure mounted directly or indirectly to a floor of the vehicle, the support structure being activated when a rollover condition is sensed. The support structure, when activated, extends toward a roof of the vehicle to reinforce the roof during rollover. The support structure cooperates with the vehicle floor to provide an amount of floor deformation upon rollover to absorb energy and maintain a safe passenger space between the roof and the floor.
