摘要: The invention relates generally to a modified human C3 protein containing a number of single amino acid changes in the α and β-chain of human C3 protein, designed to increase the affinity of the modified protein to factor B or Bb, to decrease the affinity of the modified protein to factor H, and to reduce the immunogenicity of the modified protein as compared to the native human C3 protein, a nucleotide sequence encoding the modified C3 protein, a plasmid or viral vector containing the nucleotide sequence for expression the modified C3 protein, and a host cell containing the plasmid or viral vector. We also present a polyethylene glycol covalently bound to the modified C3 protein for reducing immunogenicity and increasing plasma half-life of the modified C3 protein; a method for depleting complement in a patient by administering the modified C3 protein to the patient in an amount effective to deplete complement; a method of ameliorating effects caused by or disease or a method of ameliorating reperfusion injury in a patient by delivering the modified C3 protein.

摘要: The invention relates generally to pterostilbene and a related compound thereof active to inhibit complement at concentrations lower than 1 micromole per liter in human serum. The invention also relates to methods of using these orally active, well tolerated small molecules for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and to prevent the development of schizophrenia by inhibiting the classical complement pathway. Methods for the treatment of complement-associated inflammatory and non-inflammatory diseases, including those of the skin, are also presented.

摘要: The invention relates generally to derivatives of human C3 protein containing a number of single amino acid changes in the α- and β-chains of C3, designed to increase the affinity of the modified protein to factor B, to lessen the affinity of the modified protein for factor H, and to reduce the immunogenicity of the modified protein as compared to unmodified protein. The invention also presents methods of using these modified proteins for the treatment of certain cancers.

摘要: In accordance with the present invention, there is provided multiple embodiments of systems and methods monitoring a power system. The system and methods provide a robust and comprehensive monitoring system to accurately assess system performance and identify system interference and power failures. The system is designed to capture parameters capable of being monitored in a power distribution system, such as voltage, current, temperature or the like. A basic embodiment of the present invention includes at least one line monitor for measuring electrical parameters on the line side of a power system, a load monitor for measuring electrical parameters from the load side of a power system, a control panel for compiling the data, and a remote server for providing further analysis of the system and monitoring the system in real time.
