Abstract: Using a secure portable reference to medical information, stored on a portable storage medium, various embodiments allow a patient to give to their doctor an easy-to-use access key that will enable access to desired medical information stored on a computer network. The secure portable reference provides greater transportability of medical records to a patient or medical data repository including a doctor's office, clinic, or hospital, while maintaining data security to satisfy medical data privacy regulations and expectations. Some described embodiments use encrypted information inside the secure portable reference to hide, for example, who is allowed access to the stored medical information, and the network location of the stored information. Some embodiments use a secret PIN to authenticate the user attempting access to the referenced medical information. The secure portable reference contains information on network resources used to enable download access to medical information, including medical records and medical images.

Abstract: Features are disclosed for remote storage of medical information in a cloud service, and the systems and methods for sending, receiving, and accessing the data into and from the cloud server. A user may identify DICOM studies stored in a database at a medical data repository to be exported. The cloud service or an on-site unit at the medical data repository may search databases at the medical data repository for related medical information to identified DICOM studies. The identified DICOM studies and the related medical information may be burned into portable storage or combined into a virtual package to be uploaded to the cloud service. The cloud service may receive one or more recipients to grant access to the uploaded virtual package and may send an email to the one or more recipients indicating that virtual package may now be accessed.

Abstract: Provided is a content addressable storage (CAS) system that allows a user to request, either through an application server or directly to one or more CAS servers, files and content related to a query. In some embodiments, the content can be discovered by searching previously-stored metadata related to each file at the content addressable storage server. The search can also be replicated across multiple content addressable storage servers in order to obtain varied results and redundant results. Duplicate results may be flagged or omitted, —d the results are returned to the requester.

Abstract: Systems and methods realize the benefit of portable storage devices by taking advantage of PCs including an optical disk drive, optical disks, such as a CD or a DVD, and the Internet. An individual patient provides personal data to a healthcare service center. The healthcare service center can then create a portable optical disk for the patient to carry. The personal data written onto the portable optical disk is stored on a database management server database and is readable and updateable by the individual patient using his/her PC with an optical disk drive and connected to the Internet. The individual patient can choose to update his/her personal data on the portable optical disk and can receive a new portable optical disk that includes the update. The new portable optical disk containing the latest update is created and delivered to the patient by the database management server.

Abstract: Some of the embodiments herein provide a seamless cloud of storage. This storage may be content-addressable storage. An end application may or may not be exposed to the fact that content-addressable storage is used. Various embodiments herein provide event notification, which may allow applications or users to subscribe to particular events (such as storage of an X-ray by a particular entity). Some embodiments provide for a shared archive. A shared archive may provide homogeneous access to medical data, etc. that was previously stored into the CAS cloud by heterogeneous applications, varied data types, etc. Additionally, embodiments herein allow for the creation and distribution of virtual packages. For example, a user may create a virtual package for all images related to a patient so that she may have a virtual package of all of her medical data to present to a referring physician.
