Abstract:
A method and thermostat for controlling comfort in an area with temperature altering equipment, but no specific humidity altering equipment. An on-off thermostat which mechanically combines temperature and humidity measurements in a predetermined ratio based on a user's perception of comfort. The thermostat does not require an anticipator when used with an air conditioner in a warm and humid climate.
Abstract:
Process for selectively recovering metal chlorides from a gaseous mixture of metal chlorides by contacting the gaseous mixture at a temperature above the condensation point of the mixture with at least one stream of liquid to cool all the mixture to below the freezing point of at least one metal chloride in the mixture, the average velocity of the mixture being at least the pneumatic conveyance velocity at the point of contact. This process provides for recovery of metal chlorides without plugging the apparatus.
Abstract:
This thermostat controls to a constant ratio of temperature and humidity to give approximately constant comfort. It is especially suited for residences with air conditioning equipment but without specific humidity lowering equipment. The thermostat significantly reduces air conditioner running time without degrading comfort as humidity declines in its air-conditioned space. During winter operation the thermostat characteristically raises its dry bulb set point as humidity decreases.
Abstract:
This invention is a combination spray nozzle and throttle valve referred to as a nozzle valve. Its primary use is to characterize the spray pattern and vary the flow rate of the spray in a reversed jet installation where rate of flow in the spray must be varied to meet process requirements. Energy for contacting liquid and gas phases in a reversed jet installation comes from the kinetic energy of the jet spray. The improvement a nozzle valve provides is that the kinetic energy of the spray from the nozzle valve is substantially equal to the potential energy of its supply liquid at all flow rates. A number of spray characterizations are available to match the nozzle valve to a particular reversed jet installation. By these improvements the energy to the contact zone of a reversed jet system can be maintained at a constant maximum value on a unit mass flow basis over a wide range of spray flow rates.
Abstract:
A countercurrent spray nozzle injects fuel into the intake manifold of an internal combustion engine to give better mixing of fuel and air. Better mixing results in less NOx and less incomplete combustion of carbon.

This invention is an analog device that can be used before an audience to qualitatively demonstrate the interaction of diet, exercise and weight in the human body. The device folds for easy transport.
Abstract:
This method achieves spray drying by injection super heated slurry type material counter currently into a duct delivering preheated drying gas. Drying gas velocity is above flooding velocity, and the feed spray is delivered by a variable-flow nozzle valve which maintains constant kinetic energy per unit mass of spray over its flow range. Spray cone angle is also adjusted over the same flow range. Conventional facilities are used for heating drying gas and for collecting dried solids.
