摘要: A hammock is supported by vertical supports connected to hammock spreader bars at the head end and the foot end of the hammock at two vertically displaced points. An intermediate support comprising a transverse flexible strap suspended between the vertical support members at a user's knee region of the hammock raises the hammock in the knee region so as to remove the concavity at the location and reduce backward knee joint stress on the person reclining in the hammock.

摘要: Subterranean formations are treated with acid, by a method comprising the steps of: (1) forming an acidizing composition by mixing an aqueous acid component with at least one water-soluble organosilicon compound; and (2) injecting the composition into the formation. Suitable organosilicon compounds include water-soluble organosilanes and organosilanes which hydrolyze to form water-soluble silanols. By using the organosilicon compound, movement of formation fine particles is inhibited and swelling of clays by aqueous fluids is reduced, thus tending to maintain formation permeability.

摘要: A portable cylindrical dispenser having a side casing member with a cutout therein for permitting access to the articles inside the dispenser. The articles are a plurality of like articles, especially coiled nails, which are stacked one on top of the other. The dispenser includes an open top receptacle comprising a generally tubular side casing member and a bottom end closure member inwardly joined thereto, and a top end closure member removably secured to the receptacle for closing the open top. The dispenser may be either a top discharge dispenser, in which case the cutout is long and narrow, extending downwardly from the top but terminating short of the bottom, or a bottom discharge dispenser, in which case the cutout is situated adjacent to the bottom closure member and is wide enough and high enough to permit removal of an article from the dispenser. The cutout may be either a removable part of the side casing member, e.g., a removable strip, joined to the remainder of the casing member along the weakened portion, or an opening. In top discharge dispensers, the cutout is wide enough to permit access but not wide enough to permit removal of an article therethrough, while in the case of a bottom discharge dispenser, the cutout is sufficiently wide to permit both access and discharge of articles. Also disclosed is a package comprising a dispenser as described above having a plurality of like stacked articles, especially rolls of coiled nails, therein.

摘要: A composition for use in enhanced oil recovery procedures comprises steam having a vapor phase and a liquid phase and a fluorocarbon surfactant partitioned between the liquid and vapor phases. The partitioning of the fluorocarbon surfactant between the two phases is accomplished by maintaining the composition's pH at less than about 11, and preferably within the range of 7 to about 11. By varying the fluorocarbon surfactant concentration, the composition can be used as a surface tension depressant well stimulation additive and/or as a foam former for selectively blocking more permeable portions of a formation.

摘要: A self-breaking, foamed, oil-in-water emulsion contains a water-immiscible organic solvent for paraffins and asphaltenes, an aqueous nonformation-damaging component, an inert gas, and surface active agents selected to promote a stable foamed emulsion despite contact of the treating fluid with the hydrocarbon and aqueous environment in the reservoir. Under conditions of agitation, the treating fluid is a stable foamed emulsion which undergoes spontaneous breakdown into two liquid phases under quiescent conditions. The treating fluid is injected and/or circulated as a stable foamed emulsion to dissolve paraffin and asphaltene-containing deposits from various substrata, such as a subterranean reservoir penetrated by a well, the well itself, or an industrial vessel or conduit. When injection or circulation is stopped, the foamed emulsion spontaneously breaks down so that the treating fluid can be readily pumped from the well.

摘要: A method is disclosed for inhibiting silica dissolution during steam injection into a formation. In the method, there is added to the steam, or to feedwater used to generate the steam, a mixture comprising:(a) a compound selected from the group consisting of ammonium salts of inorganic acids, ammonium salts of carboxylic acids, quaternary ammonium halides, amine or substituted amine hydrochlorides, and mixtures thereof; and(b) a compound selected from the group consisting of ammonia, salts which decompose in steam to form acid neutralizers or buffers having alkaline pH values, amides of carbamic acid or thiocarbamic acid and derivatives of such amides, tertiary carboxylic acid amides and their substituted and alkylated derivatives, and mixtures thereof. In steam, the compound of (a) decomposes to form a proton, which neutralizes hydroxide generated by ions in the steam generator feedwater. The compound of (b) neutralizes or buffers the steam to prevent acidic pH values which would be obtained from overtreatment with compound (a) above.
