In use, the expanded stent is of a tapered configuration which provides greater force in vessel regions requiring greater force and less force in regions requiring less. In particular the stent is useful in the ostium regions and at areas of bifurcation in vessels. Varying force over the length of the stent is achieved by varying the number of elements, the density of elements, the thickness of the elements making up the stent body, and maintaining a substantially metal to artery ratio in the expanded stent over its length.

    摘要: An inventive perfusion catheter is disclosed which allows for the flow of a bodily fluid across the catheter while the catheter delivers a treatment device to a specified bodily location. The inventive perfusion catheter finds particular application in the delivery of a stent. The stent is deployed from a chamber having perfusion openings in the proximal and distal ends. The perfusion openings are constructed and arranged so as to allow the flow of a bodily fluid such as blood through the chamber.

    摘要: A closure device includes a delivery member, a sealing material applicator, and an expandable member. The delivery member is insertable through a tissue tract to a vessel puncture. The sealing material applicator is configured to supply a volume of sealing material to the delivery member and includes first and second multi-chamber devices and a valve assembly. Each chamber of the first and second multi-chamber devices holds a component of the sealing material, and operating the valve assembly permits mixing of at least some of the components prior to connecting the sealing material applicator to the delivery member. The expandable member is positionable within the vessel to temporarily seal closed the vessel puncture from within the vessel. The closure device is operable to deliver the sealing material from the sealing material applicator, through the delivery member, and to the tissue tract to seal closed the vessel puncture from outside the vessel.

    摘要: A balloon dilation catheter which has a long shaft and an inflatable balloon connected to its distal end. The shaft includes a guide wire lumen which has an inner diameter that is substantially larger than the guide wire diameter used in the procedure. An atraumatic tip is connected to the distal end of the inflatable balloon and includes an aperture which the guide wire passes through. The diameter of the aperture remains constant but is substantially less than the inner diameter of the guide wire lumen and matches the maximum diameter of the guide wire used in the procedure. The atraumatic tip minimizes the potential for vascular damage and eliminates the need to change catheters or guide wires and thus reduces the time and cost of the PTA procedure. The tip also includes holes which allow for dye injection and pressure measurement while the guide wire extends through the aperture. Alternatively, the aperture may be compliant such that it can expand or contract to accommodate guide wires of different diameters. The compliant tip minimizes the circumferencial ledge between the distal end of the catheter and the guide wire and thereby minimizes the potential for vascular damage.
