    摘要: A seismic detector transport system utilizes an elongated abrasion resistant seismic wave detector transport member to which is connected an elongated strain resistant cable. In a preferred embodiment the transport member and the cable are connected together by means of a plurality of spaced apart limit catch members, each affixed to the transport member, and a corresponding number of limit stop members affixed to the elongated strain resistant cable. The limit catch member has an annular section through which the strain resistant cable extends. The limit stop member, which may be in the form of a U-bolt, corresponding to a given limit catch member is adapted to engage the limit stop member to prevent further movement of the cable through the annular section thereof. The seismic detectors, which may be geophones of conventional design, are spaced apart along the length of the transport member. A towing vehicle, which may be a tractor, is connected to the transport member to drag it along the earth''s surface. A winch on the tractor is connected to the strain resistant cable to apply tension to the cable.

    摘要: A one-way pig means adapted for travel through a pipeline in one direction and useful, for example, in the recovery of marine pipelines or the detection of pipeline leaks is provided in which the pipeline pig advances through a pipeline under the action of a differential fluid pressure in one direction but upon action of a differential fluid pressure from the opposite direction the pig engages the walls of the pipeline thereby resisting movement. The one-way pig engages the inside wall of the pipeline by the wedging action of a disc-shaped, rigid plate against a resilient pigging cup providing a tight, leakproof seal through such wedging action. The wedging action increases as the differential fluid pressure increases.

    摘要: The effects of shaliness on the electrical resistivity (or conductivity) of earth formations is determined by obtaining a relationship between dielectric constant and a conductivity parameter that is a function of shaliness, measuring the dielectric constant of the earth formation of interest and using the relationship between dielectric constant and the conductivity parameter to determine the effects of shaliness on resistivity. The dielectric constant of portions of formations can be determined in-situ by electrical measurements, or by obtaining earth cores and subjecting the cores to electrical measurements.

    摘要: Apparatus for activating a seismic explosive charge includes a communications link for permitting two-way communication between a control location and a seismic energy generator or explosive charge location, first and second code generators respectively at the control location and the generator location, and first and second code detectors respectively at the control location and the generator location. A code group is transmitted from the control location to the generator location. Upon being detected at the generator location, the code group is retransmitted back to the control location and simultaneously the code group is again detected at the generator location so as to concomitantly produce detection signals at both the generator location and the control location. At the generator location the detection signal is used to activate the seismic explosive charge and at the control location to generate a time break electrical signal. The first arrivals of seismic energy at a location on the earth''s surface substantially vertically above the explosive charge is detected. A counter at the generator location, which is reset whenever a detection signal is generated at the generator location, measures the time interval from the activation of the seismic charge to the detection of the first arrivals. A binary signal indicative of the time interval is transmitted back to the control location where it is recorded or otherwise utilized.

    摘要: One embodiment includes an oil recovery process, more particularly a secondary or tertiary type crude oil recovery process utilizing a drive fluid to move a displacing fluid through a subterranean formation wherein the displacing fluid displaces crude oil therefrom and is driven through the formation by means of the drive fluid. The crude oil recovery process is improved by utilizing as the drive fluid a thickened, transparent, aqueous solution of a water-soluble sulfated, polyethoxylated C10-C18 primary alcohol or alkylated phenol. The displacing fluid is generally an aqueous surfactant solution, a miscible displacing medium or most preferably a microemulsion. In a further embodiment, the water-soluble, polyethoxylated C10-C18 primary alcohol or alkylated phenol is employed as a mobility control agent in a waterflood thereby increasing the sweep efficiency thereof.

    摘要: A wireless seismic data acquisition system wherein seismic data detected at a plurality of remote detecting locations is to be transmitted to a remote recording location is disclosed. At a given detecting location, seismic data samples are digitally encoded for radio data transmission to the recording location via a radio frequency relay system comprising data acquisition and relay units located at the various detecting locations. The data samples from the various units located at the detecting locations are injected into the stream of data being relayed by radio to the recording location according to a predetermined program. Units at each detecting location function to relay radio data transmissions from one adjacent location to another, and at the proper time initiate radio data transmissions for relaying thereof. The group of units initiating radio data transmissions is selectable from a larger number of such units by means of a radio signal from a remote control station. Units not within the selected group perform only the relay function.

    摘要: Crude oil in a subterranean formation is recovered through the injection of at least one phase formed from a composition within the multiphase region of an oil-water-surfactant ternary diagram. One embodiment includes the injection of two or more mutually immiscible phases which would be in phase equilibrium within the multiphase region in the ternary diagram of a microemulsion system, at least one of the phases being a microemulsion. Low interfacial tensions exist between the immiscible phases in equilibrium. Where one of the phases in equilibrium comprises predominantly oil or predominantly water, in a further embodiment the microemulsion phase in equilibrium therewith can be injected alone to achieve efficient crude oil recovery. Where there are three phases in equilibrium, one of which comprises predominantly oil and another comprises predominantly water, in a further embodiment the remaining microemulsion phase in equilibrium therewith can be injected alone to achieve efficient crude oil recovery.
