Abstract:
Diricinoleylphosphatidylcholine (I) in an optically active form is obtained with good yields and a high purity by means of a process which comprises: a) esterifying the terminal carboxylic group of ricinoleic acid (III) with an alcohol having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms to give the corresponding ester having formula (IV); b) protecting the hydroxylic group of the ester of ricinoleic acid (IV) with a protecting group removable under bland operating conditions and isolating the ester of ricinoleic acid of which the hydroxylic group (V) is protected; c) hydrolyzing the ester of ricinoleic acid of which the hydroxylic group (V) is protected and isolating the ricinoleic acid of which the hydroxylic group (VI) is protected; d) acylating L-&agr;-glycerophosphatidylcholine (II) with an imidazolic or triazolic derivative of the compound having formula (VI) and isolating the diricinoleylphosphatidylcholine of which the hydroxylic group (VII) is protected; e) removing the protecting group from the hydroxylic group of the compound having formula (VII); and finally f) recovering and purifying the compound having formula (I) by means of chromatography.
Abstract:
A method is described for the isolation of Expressed Sequence Tags (ESTs) which are based on the use of suitable quantities of 5-azaCytidine in the germination phase of plants to induce the demethylation phenomenon of the DNA. In this way, it is possible to obtain “totipotent” seedlings, i.e. capable of expressing as many genes as possible regardless of the development phase of the plant and isolating said genes by the synthesis of a single cDNA library.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a two-step process for the synthesis of caprolactam by reaction of cylcohexanone-oxime with an excess of oleum, carried out in a first step with only a portion of the oxime and in the presence of liquid SO.sub.2, according to usual "cold" techniques, the amount of free SO.sub.3 in the oleum being equal to or greater than 50% by weight, wherein said "cold" step is completed by a second "hot" step, by adding a second portion of oxime, the ratio between said second portion and said first portion ranging from 0.5 to 1.2.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for the production of multipotent stem cells starting from highly differentiated adult somatic cells of mammals or their precursors comprising the demethylating treatment phase of highly differentiated cells with 5′ Aza 2′ cytidine and relative kits and uses in the medical field.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of preparation of transgenic plants resistant to viral infections by introducing into the genoma of a host plant an antisense gene construct constituted by: the domain F of the subgenomic promoter of a viral RNA; a leader sequence of a viral ORF, downstream from said subgenomic promoter; the gene encoding a viral coat protein, downstream from said leader sequence; and the 3'-terminal region of a viral RNA, downstream from said gene. The present invention also relates to a recombinant vector comprising a promoter functional in a host plant, and, operably linked to this promoter, the antisense gene construct of the present invention.
