    摘要： The present invention concerns novel nitrogen-containing aromatic heterocyclic compounds of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is a group of the formula ##STR2## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are substituents, e.g. alkyl and R.sub.3 is hydrogen or a substituent, e.g. alkyl; R.sub.4 is a group R.sub.14 --X--, wherein R.sub.14 is a substituent, e.g. alkyl and X is --O--, --S-- or ##STR3## wherein R.sub.6 is hydrogen or a substituent, e.g. alkyl, or R.sub.4 is a heterocyclic ring or has one of the significances of R; R.sub.5 has one of the significances of R.sub.4 ; and Y is --N.dbd. or --CH.dbd..The compounds are useful as anti-oxidants in, e.g. plastics materials.

    摘要： Fluorene phosphonites and thiophosphonites of the formula, ##STR1## in which each R, independently, is alkyl or optionally substituted phenyl, each Y, independently, is oxygen or sulphur, and n is zero or 1, are useful as antioxidants. Organic materials, which are susceptible to the degradative effects of oxygen, are treated with one or more of such compounds e.g. by incorporation into the body of the organic material, in order to be stabilized against such effects.
