The invention relates to a process for producing spherical, non-fibrillar cellulose particles with a particle size in the range of from about 1 μm to about 400 μm from a solution of cellulose in which the solution is cooled down to below its solidification temperature wherein it is flowing freely, the solvent is washed out, the solidified cellulose solution is disintegrated to form cellulose powder comprising particles, and the disintegrated and washed out particles are dried. The invention also relates to the cellulose powder and particles made in accordance with the process of the invention.

In a process of producing a high-temperature resistant film or a polyimide polymer, a solution of the polymer in an organic solvent is caused to flow out through a slots spinneret of a film forming arrangement and to coagulate in an aqueous precipitation bath containing the organic solvent. The film made up of coagulated liquid is stripped, the organic solvent is removed and the film is dried. In order to attain sufficient strength properties without subsequent orientation and, thus, achieve a better dimensional stability at elevated temperatures, the liquid film formed in the slot spinneret is allowed to fall directly freely into the aqueous precipitation bath through a short air gap. The film formed is drawn off the precipitation bath and is subjected to a subsequent thermal treatment to achieve a transparent homogeneous film. The organic solvent is then removed by treatment with an aqueous extraction agent, and the film is finally dried.

There is disclosed a heated roll for the thermal treatment of formed products. It includes a driven hollow shaft and a hollow roll body of a circular-ring-shaped cross section and closed on all sides to accommodate a heat transfer medium. Power supply lines for heating elements as well as electric wires of temperature probes are led through the hollow shaft. In order to provide a heated roll to be used without problems both in the low-temperature range and in the high-temperature range up to about 600.degree. C. and to reach a uniform temperature profile over the total operation surface of the roll outer shell and a long service life of the heat transfer medium, without excessive temperature prevailing at the bearings of the driving shaft, and to provide for an easy repair, the hollow shaft is connected with the roll body by a hub. One or several saline compound(s) or (a) low-melting metal(s) or metal alloy(s) are contained in the interior of the hollow roll body. The heating elements are provided in the cylindrical inner part of the roll body. The temperature probes are arranged both in the cylindrical inner part and in the cylindrical outer shell, of the roll body.
