    摘要: Disclosed is an LCD device which facilitates to improve picture quality of two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) images by automatically converting an image driving mode (2D/3D) in accordance with a viewing distance, and a method for driving the same, wherein the device comprises a distance measuring unit which measures a viewing distance between the LCD device and a viewer; an image mode controller which sets a 2D image mode or 3D image mode in accordance with a comparison result between the viewing distance and a preset reference distance; a timing controller which aligns externally-provided image signals in accordance with the 2D image mode or 3D image mode set by the image mode controller, and converts the aligned image signals into image data by frame unit; and a liquid crystal panel which displays an image based on the 2D image mode or 3D image mode.

    摘要: An LCD device and a driving method thereof are discussed. The LCD device can prevent a blended color within each block which is defined in an LCD panel. To this end, the LCD device divides an external image data into a plurality of block image data, generates first dimming signals opposite to red, green, and blue data with each block image data, and provides a second dimming signal opposite to a brightness data with each block image data. Also, the LCD device calculates a difference value between maximum and minimum grayscale values by analyzing histograms for the red, green, and compares the calculated difference value with a reference difference value. Furthermore, the LCD device allows one of the first and second dimming signals to be selected according to the dimming mode control signal.

The apparatus for driving a liquid crystal display device includes: a liquid crystal panel including 4-color sub-pixels; a data driver for providing video data signals to each sub-pixel; a gate driver for providing a scan pulse to each sub-pixel A data converter determines an Average Picture Level (APL) of 3-color source data, and generates a gain value corresponding to the average picture level. The 3-color source data is converted into 4-color data using the generated gain value; and a timing controller for communicates the 4-color data received through the data converter to the data driver.

The reflective liquid crystal display device includes: a plurality of gate lines and data lines intersecting on a first substrate, the gate line and the data line defining pixel areas; a thin film transistor formed at the intersection of the gate line and the data line, the thin film transistor including a gate electrode, a semiconductor layer, a source electrode and a drain electrode; a capacitor lower electrode of a storage capacitor formed on the same plane as the gate line; an capacitor upper electrode formed integrally with the drain electrode on the capacitor lower electrode; a first insulation film inserted between the capacitor upper electrode and the capacitor lower electrode; and a thin film transistor array substrate connected with the drain electrode and including the reflective electrode formed at the pixel area.
