摘要: In a structure in which a printing medium is subjected to a maintenance ejection in order to maintain a favorable ink ejection performance of a printing head, dots formed on the printing medium by the maintenance ejection have a reduced visibility. Specifically, an area of dots formed by landing ink droplets ejected from the printing head for the maintenance ejection onto the printing medium is smaller than an area of similar dots formed by a normal printing. Specifically, by flowing currents having different waveforms into an ejection heater of the printing head depending on the ejection for printing an image and the maintenance ejection, an area of dots formed by the maintenance ejection can be smaller than an area of dots formed by the normal ejection for printing an image.

摘要: In a printer of the invention, a plurality of head units each including a line thermal head having heat-generating elements arranged in a direction orthogonal to a conveying direction of a recording paper are arranged in the conveying direction of the recording paper. The head unit has an angle-adjusting mechanism that adjusts the angle between the conveying direction of the recording paper, and the arranging direction of the heat-generating elements, and a position-adjusting mechanism that slidingly moves thermal head in the arranging direction of the heat-generating elements. An angle-adjusting screw of the angle-adjusting mechanism and a position-adjusting screw of the position-adjusting mechanism are disposed at an external surface of the head unit, which is orthogonal to the line thermal head.

摘要: Problems, which occur when printing is performed on the surface of a rotating disk using by using a print head arranged in the outer circumferential direction from the center of rotation, are resolved. Light emitting sections performs exposure in synchronism with rotational driving for rotating a medium, and pixels which are adjacent in the circumferential direction of rotation are exposed in a partially superimposed fashion by making the amount of movement in the circumferential direction along which the outermost circumference of the medium moves between exposures smaller than the width in the circumferential direction of the pixels formed by exposure. In a plurality of light emitting sections provided in an optical unit, the quantity of light for exposing a pixel on the inner circumferential side in the radial direction is set to be smaller than the quantity of light for exposing a pixel on the outer circumferential side in the radial direction for the respective exposure positions for the medium. Therefore, difference in the tonal shading caused by superposition is reduced by lowering the density created by each exposure in respect of the pixels on the inner circumferential side in the radial direction where there is a large overlap between exposures.

摘要: A liquid discharge recording head in which a nozzle plate is formed from inorganic material can be manufactured at low cost and with good through-put. In the liquid discharge recording head, a nozzle plate formed from inorganic material is stacked on a front surface of a silicon substrate including heat generating resistor members for generating energy for discharging liquid and an electric circuit for driving the heat generating resistor members. The liquid can be supplied from a liquid supply port extending through the silicon substrate to flow paths provided between the silicon substrate and the nozzle plate. Recessed portions having predetermined depths are formed in regions of the surface of the silicon substrate, where the flow paths are formed, and discharge ports are formed above the recessed portions.

摘要: In a liquid discharge detection method and apparatus which detect a liquid discharged from a liquid discharge head, an electrode is placed at a position where the liquid discharged from the liquid discharge head comes into contact with the electrode while being in contact with the head. When a liquid is discharged, and the head is connected to the electrode through the liquid, the circuit becomes a closed circuit. A voltage generated between the two ends of a resistor is obtained from a current flowing in the closed circuit. When this voltage becomes equal to or higher than a predetermined voltage, liquid discharge can be detected.
