摘要: An atmospheric, low emission gas burner within the combustion chamber of a hot water heater in which the combustion chamber is sealed against entry of air except for the air/gas mixture entering through the burner. The burner comprises a venturi through which gas and air enter and a diffuser disposed about the venturi, the diffuser and venturi constructed to take advantage of the high thermal buoyancy within the water heater. The burner operates at low manifold pressure and creates low emissions of NOx and CO. The burner diffuser has a multiplicity of small slots disposed on the upper surface which is covered by a course mesh fabric material having relatively large openings designed to keep the flame front above and off the diffuser while maintaining a stable flame that does not flashback. Several openings in the base of the combustion chamber permit escape of a pressure pulse that occurs upon initial ignition, a porous material or a flap covering each of the openings for permitting the pulse to escape but preventing air from entering therethrough.

摘要: A premixed gas burner has an elongated hollow burner body including a burner deck formed by a multiplicity of burner ports about a small sector of the body. The burner body is closed at one end and an elongated distribution tube is received within the body through and extending out the other end. The end of the distribution tube extending out of the burner body has an inlet into which a mixture of gas and air may enter, the opposite end of the distribution tube being closed. A series of directional ports formed between louvered slats adjacent the closed end and spaced from the inlet are formed along a small sector of the distribution tube and directs the mixture of gas and air back toward the inlet end. The sector of the distribution tube in which the ports are formed is substantially 180.degree. from the sector of the burner body in which the deck ports are formed. The construction provides good mixing, and substantially prevents flashback by having high velocity throughout the burner, and good distribution without a high pressure drop.

摘要: A premixed gas burner has a hollow body including a closed end and an entry end into which a combustible gas and air mixture may flow. The body has a multiplicity of apertures through which the mixture may pass from the hollow interior. A burner portal deck is positioned in superposed relationship over the apertures for permitting the gas air mixture to form a controlled flame. A porous woven fabric formed from ceramic fiber having high thermal insulation properties is located above the deck and separates the deck from the flame front formed when the mixture is ignited. The fabric insulates the deck from excessive temperatures, prevents flash back, allows use of conventional stainless steel for the deck and body components and makes possible the manufacture of long burner sections. A long burner section has a number of decks in side-by-side relationship with an insulating fabric mat over the decks for not only providing insulation, but also forms a gasket between the adjacent decks.

摘要: A burner having an elongated cylindrical body closed at one end with a plurality of ports spaced apart in two rows along the upper segment of the body, said ports formed by punching. The ports have an upper edge and a lower edge wherein the lower edge is displaced a first distance below the upper edge and a second distance beyond a vertical axis tangent to the upper edge. Accordingly, flames are emitted substantially sideways out of the cylindrical body and any drippings on the tube are directed away from the cavity of the cylindrical body.

摘要: A premixed gas burner for use in a boiler or the like has a burner body including a distribution tube into which air under pressure and a gas fuel are received. The gas is supplied to the distribution tube through a gas supply orifice tube having a flange in the form of a disk disposed about the periphery of the gas supply tube and positioned a short distance within the distribution tube. The gas supply tube has a number of orifices located about the tube adjacent to the downstream facing surface of the flange. The distribution tube is located within a pressurized air chamber and gas supplied from a manifold to the supply tube is mixed turbulently adjacent the downstream face of the flange. The invention extends the operating range of premixed gas burners and reduces the carbon monoxide and NO.sub.x output of the burner.

摘要: An inshot-gas burner for gas burning furnaces and other gas burning appliances has a flame retention head at the outlet formed from porous ceramic foam with a central opening through which a flame may project. A velocity reducing insert is located within the mixing chamber of the burner for reducing the velocity of the mixture received by the head in the area spaced about the central openings so that the head is radiant in operation. The porosity of the foam is in the order of 20 to 60 pores per inch. When radiant, the head permits the burner to operate at higher primary aerations, and provides faster burning velocity and thus lower residence time, and additionally provides a lower maximum temperature and a stable quiet flame. This permits the burner to emit low amounts of nitric oxide and nitrogen dioxide without increasing the amount of carbon monoxide emissions. The head may be formed from other materials and the velocity reduction may be provided by other structures, one of which is a composite head having restrictive discreet porting.
