Abstract:
A hinge for an electronic device is provided. The electronic device has a first half and a second half. The hinge includes a rigid, multi-layer printed wiring board capable of being electrically coupled to the first half of the electronic device, and a flexible circuit electrically connected to the printed wiring board and capable of being electrically coupled to the second half of the electronic device. The printed wiring board is fixed relative to the first half. When the second half of the electronic device is moved relative to the first half, the flexible circuit winds and unwinds.
Abstract:
An acoustic transducer comprising a substrate; and a diaphragm formed by depositing a micromachined membrane onto the substrate. The diaphragm is formed as a single silicon chip using a CMOS MEMS (microelectromechanical systems) semiconductor fabrication process. The curling of the diaphragm during fabrication is reduced by depositing the micromachined membrane for the diaphragm in a serpentine-spring configuration with alternating longer and shorter arms. As a microspeaker, the acoustic transducer of the present invention converts a digital audio input signal directly into a sound wave, resulting in a very high quality sound reproduction at a lower cost of production in comparison to conventional acoustic transducers. The micromachined diaphragm may also be used in microphone applications.

A flexible bulk container is disclosed, integral with a wheeled vehicle, that has an open bulk mode and a closed flat bed mode. The container can be used one way full and the return journey empty in the flat bed mode with other cargo on the flat bed. The container comprises a main frame with two laterally spaced longitudinal members, two floor panel sections, each hinged at outside edges across the top surfaces of the longitudinal members, the two panel sections having a closed position providing a substantially flat floor, and an open position wherein the two panel sections slope upwards and outwards from each other, flexible liner attached to the two panel sections and the main frame, providing a bulk container when the two panel sections are in the open position, strut support means at the end of each of the longitudinal members to support the two panel sections in the open position, and discharge hopper means between the longitudinal members for emptying the bulk container.

An unsaturated polyester resin composition includes small quantities of hydrocarbon wax and small quantities of an unsaturated alkyd resin formed from the reaction of linseed oil fatty acids, alpha, beta-ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid and glycol. Styrene volatilization from the resulting system is reduced. The secondary bonding properties of the resulting resin composition are not adversely affected.

Abstract:
The wheel chock includes a base plate with a raised tip at the end of the plate adjacent to the wheel. The chock also includes a slanted surface inclined at an angle away from the base plate and the tip for providing a contact surface for the wheel when the chock is pushed into position with the tip pinched between the wheel and the ground surface. The slanted surface is reinforced and supported against the base for opposing the contact force of the wheel. The bottom of the plate is serrated to improve the gripping force of the chock against the ground. The tip and the slanted surface are located relative to each other so that the wheel contacts the slanted surface after the tip has been pinched between the wheel and the ground surface. In one embodiment, a slot is provided at the upper end of the slanted surface. The slot is configurate for mating with a raised tip of a second chock so that the two chocks can be assembled together in reverse order for easy storage and/or shipment.

Improvements are disclosed for an apparatus for continuously molding small fastener elements integral with a base web from a flowable resin. The apparatus comprises a cylindrical mold roll rotatable about an axis and defining small fastener element-shaped mold cavities in the surface thereof, and pressure-applying means to apply operating pressure to force the resin into the cavities at a pressure zone. The pressure-applying means and mold roll define a mold gap therebetween for forming the base web. The advantageous use of relatively long mold rolls, to produce a correspondingly wide web, and the use of higher molding pressures, e.g. to form very small fastener elements, is enabled by various improvements, including means to maintain the mold gap at a desired thickness profile across the length of the molding region of the mold roll under operating pressure. In some cases the pressure-applying means includes a pressure roll, in other cases it includes a resin nozzle assembly or pressure head. In some other cases it includes a belt. Various control schemes are also disclosed, as are means to provide cooling. In some particularly useful embodiments, at least one of the rolls of the apparatus has a resiliently deformable surface. Methods of molding fastener elements directly on a sheet material, such as sandpaper, are also disclosed, as well as methods for laminating.

A compact transmission drive line arrangement incorporating a planetary mechanism comprised of three simple planetary gear sets interconnected having associated therewith two clutches and four brake mechanisms to provide four forward speed ratios and one reverse speed ratio. The clutches and the planetary mechanism are on opposite sides of the final drive gear which is connected to drive a parallel arranged differential and output shaft assembly. The planetary transmission is arranged such that all of the brake mechanisms are disposed radially of the planetary mechanism on the same side of the final drive.
