Abstract:
A medical balloon having an inner surface and an outer surface comprising a first coating composition comprising at least one therapeutic agent, the first coating composition disposed on the balloon outer surface and forming an interface between the balloon outer surface and the first coating composition and a second coating composition comprising a bioadhesive, the second coating composition disposed on the first coating composition so as to not affect the interface between the balloon outer surface and the first coating composition, the bioadhesive selected so as to adhere to body tissue, and methods of making the same.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for field-injection electrostatic spray deposition of medical devices like stents. The apparatus includes a medical device holder, which applies a first electrical potential to the medical device, and an electrically insulative electrostatic spray dispensing device having an electrically conductive electrode, which applies a second electrical potential, creating an electrical potential difference sufficient to attract charged coating material particles emitted from an orifice of the dispensing device toward the medical device. The electrode may be sharpened to create a localized, high-strength electric field to improve the charge injection into the coating material or coating solution.
Abstract:
A dumbbell has a core rod and a cloth cover. The core rod has a supporting rod and a bag. The bag is mounted around the supporting rod. A first filling space is formed between the supporting rod and the bag. The first filling space is filled with a weight material. The cloth cover is mounted around the core rod and seals the core rod. The cloth cover has a holding portion and two weight portions. The two weight portions are respectively formed at two ends of the holding portion. A second filling space is formed between the core rod and the holding portion. The second filling space is filled with the weight material. A respective third filling space is formed between the core rod and each one of the two weight portions.
Abstract:
A medical device having a polymer-free outer surface layer comprising a crystalline drug selected from the group consisting of everolimus, tacrolimus, sirolimus, zotarolimus, biolimus, and rapamycin. The device may be produced by a method comprising the steps of providing a medical device; applying a solution of the drug to said portion of the outer surface to form a coating of amorphous drug; and vapor annealing the drug with a solvent vapor to form crystalline drug; wherein a seed layer of a crystalline form of said drug having a maximum particle size of about 10 μm or less is applied to at least said portion of the outer surface of the device before or after applying the drug solution, but before vapor annealing the amorphous coating.

Abstract:
Foamed polyurethane articles, such as a sponges, sheets, tapes or ribbons, blocks or other molded, extruded or cast article which foamed polyurethane articles comprising one or more quaternary ammonium compounds having germicidal properties and are particularly useful in the formation of cleaning articles. Processes for the manufacture of such cleaning articles based on hydrophilic polyurethane foams exhibit an antimicrobial benefit and their use are also described.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a water soluble container which containing concentrate composition useful for hard surface disinfecting and cleaning comprising: (a) at least one cationic surfactant having germicidal properties; (b) at least one non-ionic surfactant; (c) at least one organic solvent having a solubility in water of at least 4% wt.; (d) optionally, at least one alkanolamine; (e) optionally, at least one polyethylene glycol; and (f) optionally, up to about 10% wt. of one or more conventional additives selected from coloring agents, fragrances and fragrance solubilizers, viscosity modifying agents, other surfactants, other antimicrobial/germicidal agents, pH adjusting agents and pH buffers including organic and inorganic salts, optical brighteners, opacifying agents, hydrotropes, antifoaming agents, enzymes, anti-spotting agents, anti-oxidants, preservatives, and anti-corrosion agents; wherein said concentrate composition contains no more than 20% wt. water, and desirably contains less. The water soluble containers can be made by thermoforming or injection molding. Methods for the manufacture of such containers containing the concentrate compositions and methods for the treatment of hard surfaces using the concentrate compositions and especially aqueous dilutions of the concentrate compositions are disclosed.
Abstract:
A dental implant for use in replacing a nonfunctional tooth includes an abutment and a base. The base of the implant has a topography this is substantially identical to the topography of the root of the nonfunctional tooth. Accordingly, the use of the implants eliminates the need for conventionally used bone drills and other traumatic preparing procedures for implant. The implant may be fabricated from a single piece of material so that the abutment and the base are unitary. In addition, the surface of the base may be treated to enhance post-implant bone growth to the base.
