The method includes checking connection states of the one or more signal sources to the signal sink, displaying menu items of the one or more devices included in one or more signal sources connected to the signal sink in a graphic user interface (GUI) screen, based on a result of the connection state check; selecting a specific one of the menu items displayed in the GUI screen, determining whether a device corresponding to the selected menu item, among the one or more devices included in the one or more signal sources, is in its on or off state, generating a signal for turning-on the corresponding device when it is determined that the corresponding device is in its off state and transmitting the generated turning-on signal to the corresponding device.

    摘要： An apparatus and a method for interacting with a mobile telephone are provided. A remote control unit receives a user command and transmits it to a TV system which recognizes the user command as a telephone function command and transmits the function command to the mobile telephone if the TV system is set to Telephone Mode. The TV system may also output data received from the mobile telephone in response to the transmitted function command. Thus, a user may interact with a mobile telephone using an interactive TV system by displaying text/image data received from the telephone and by inputting various telephone function commands using a remote control unit. Upon receiving a function command from the TV system, the mobile telephone generates output data in response to the function command and transmits itto the TV system. A display unit of the TV system displays the text/image data, and a speaker outputs the sound data. As a result, a user may conveniently interact with a mobile telephone using a display unit and a speaker of an interactive TV system with a remote control unit.

The video device controller includes a touch pad (110), a coordinate recognition unit (120) for recognizing coordinate values corresponding to a touch trajectory executed with respect to the touch pad (110), a key signal input unit (120), having a plurality of keys, for generating a key signal according to a user selection of at least one of the keys; a system controller (140) for calculating values of at least one of a direction, speed, and distance of the touch trajectory using the recognized coordinate values and for outputting a movement command signal based on the calculated values and the key signal, the movement command signal shifting an object displayed on the video device; and a key code generator (150) for generating a key code corresponding to the movement command signal. The touch pad (110) is preferably imparted with a predetermined pattern enabling a touch trajectory to be recognized in a simple manner.
