摘要: A commercially attractive arrangement for monolithic integration of a nonlinear optical polymer transverse electro-optic device on an electronic integrated circuit chip. The invention provides for conductive polymer cladding layers immediately adjacent to an optical signal transmitting nonlinear optical polymer core layer. The cladding layers result in a reduced core layer poling voltage, reduced device length, and 5 VDC or less controlling voltage, allowing inclusion into electronic integrated circuit chips of a size compatible with multichip module integration.

摘要: An improved method for enriched chirality of single wall carbon nanotubes is described. Genomic DNA, particularly salmon DNA (SaDNA) is shown to sort out single wall carbon nanotubes of specific chirality by a process of solubilization (dissolving in solution) and separation (such as centrifuging), without requiring more complex processes such as anion exchange chromatography. A possible reason for enhanced chirality separation using DNA may be attributed to its lowered GC (guanine-cytosine) content.

摘要: The present invention uses a DNA-based biopolymer material as a host for phosphor guest materials that are used for solid state lighting. The DNA-biopolymer replaces the epoxies, which are typically used as the hosts for these phosphors. The resulting DNA-biopolymer phosphor can either be deposited directly on the light emitting diode die by casting or onto the inside of the lens or dome placed on top of the LED by casting, spin depositing, electro-spinning or vapor deposition. The purpose of the invention is to enhance the light output and efficiency of solid state lighting and to red shift the light emission or shift the emission to longer wavelength. This would render brighter solid state lighting that operates at lower input power, generate less heat and have longer lifetimes. It would also reduce or eliminate the cold or blue tinted color of solid state lighting by warming or red shifting the emission of these devices.
