Abstract:
An ink container that includes a collapsible ink reservoir having first a side and a second side that are opposing, a first spiral conductive coil attached to the first side, a second spiral conductive coil attached to the second side, stiffeners disposed over the first and second coils, and a pressure vessel for pressurizing the outside of the ink reservoir.
Abstract:
In the preferred embodiment, an inkjet printer includes a replaceable print cartridge which is inserted into a scanning carriage. An ink tube extends from the scanning carriage to a separate ink supply located within the printer. A fluid interconnect on the print cartridge connects to a fluid interconnect on the carriage when the print cartridge is inserted into the carriage to complete the fluid connection between the external ink supply and the print cartridge. In one embodiment, the fluid interconnection is made between the print cartridge and the ink tube simply by placing the print cartridge into a stall in the scanning carriage. A pressure regulator, which may be internal or external to the print cartridge, regulates the flow of ink from the external ink supply to the print cartridge. The external ink supply may be pressurized or non-pressurized.
Abstract:
A carriage, driven along a carriage rod, rests on the carriage rod at carriage V-bearings. The V-bearing connection is open at the bottom. A magnetic preloader applies a magnetic force biasing the carriage toward the carriage rod. A roller coupled to the carriage runs along a track surface away from the carriage rod. At high slew velocities, a local discontinuity, such as a bump, encountered by the roller causes an acceleration of the roller away from the track surface. The upward rotation causes a torque rotating the carriage around the carriage rod. A magnetic restoring torque is applied in the vicinity of the roller to keep the roller running smoothly along the track surface.
Abstract:
An inkjet printing mechanism has an inkjet printhead which controllably ejects multiple ink droplets and a carriage to carry the printhead. The carriage is designed to move the printhead through a print zone to a service station where the printhead is serviced. During a servicing mode of operation, the printhead ejects ink droplets at the service station to clear the printhead nozzle orifices prior to printing. A reservoir is provided at the service station to collect the ink droplets ejected from the printhead during the servicing mode. A venturi passageway is also positioned at the service station adjacent to the reservoir. The venturi passageway guides the ink droplets ejected from the printhead into the reservoir.
Abstract:
An ink supply for an ink-jet printer is provided with a main reservoir, which is typically maintained at ambient pressure. The main reservoir is coupled to a variable volume chamber via a one-way valve which allows the flow of ink from the reservoir to the chamber and prevents the flow of ink from the chamber to the reservoir. The chamber is coupled to a fluid outlet which is normally closed to prevent the flow of ink. However, when the ink supply is installed in a printer, the fluid outlet establishes a fluid connection between the chamber and the printer. The chamber is part of a pump provided with the ink supply that can be actuated to supply ink from the reservoir to the printer. The volume of the chamber can be monitored during actuation of the pump to detect when the quantity of ink within the ink supply is low.
Abstract:
The invention provides a pharmaceutical composition for use in human or veterinary medicine which comprises ranitidine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof, alginic acid or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof, and a carbonate or bicarbonate. The composition preferably comprises 1.25% to 10% w/w ranitidine hydrochloride, 5% to 35% w/w alginic acid, and 2% to 15% w/w sodium bicarbonate and is preferably in the form of a capsule or tablet. The compositions are suitable for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders and particularly reflux oesophagitis.
