摘要: A device for expedited reaming of a medullary canal and method of using the same are disclosed. The device includes a reamer head connected at the distal end of a rotatable drive shaft. The reamer head has a cutting head with a plurality of blades and flutes therebetween. Each blade has a front cutting portion. The blades can also include a side cutting portion. The disclosed method for removing material from the medullary canal of a bone includes the steps of reaming an area of the medullary canal to remove material; irrigating the material to be removed while reaming to reduce generation of heat and move removed material from the reaming area; and aspirating the removed material while reaming to create a negative intramedullary canal pressure to assist in the removal of the material.

摘要: This invention provides a method for identifying lawn grass comprising capturing an image of the terrain in front of a mower, segmenting the image into neighborhoods, calculating at least two image statistics for each of the neighborhoods, generating a binary representation of each image statistic. The binary representation of each image statistic is generated by comparing the calculated image statistic values to predetermined image statistic values for grass. The method further comprises weighting each of the binary representations of each image statistic, and summing corresponding neighborhoods for all image statistics. A binary threshold is applied to each of the summed neighborhoods to generate a binary map representing grass containing areas and non-grass containing areas.

摘要: A standard attachment temporarily converts a drywall screw gun into a drywall router-bit cutter. Adapters unique to particular brands of screw guns may be employed to allow the standard attachment to be mounted on guns of the different brands. The attachment effects a twenty-times speed-up of the screw gun screwdriver RPMs to achieve required router-bit RPMs, while depressing a special function of the screw gun. Snap rings and snug slidable fittings are utilized to effect quick attachment/detachment. A belt clip on the attachment facilitates maintaining the attachment readily accessible. In an alternate attachment form, an external portion of the housing is substituted to allow the attachment to be mounted on guns of different brands. Different types of the attachment forms allow mounting on guns which may or may not have their depth control mechanism adjustable sleeves readily removed.

摘要: A device for expedited reaming of a medullary canal having a detachable reaming head is disclosed. The device includes a reamer head connected at the distal end of a rotatable drive shaft. The reamer head has a cutting head with a plurality of blades and flutes therebetween at a first end and a plurality of resilient arms at a second end. The device may also includes an aspiration tube which fits over the rotatable drive shaft and a reamer head retainer which rotatably engages the reamer head. In addition, the reamer head may be detached from the reamer device for future re-use by using a reamer head removing device.

摘要: Disclosed is a method for identifying lawn grass which includes capturing an image of the terrain in front of a mower, segmenting the image into neighborhoods, calculating at least two image statistics for each of the neighborhoods, generating a binary representation of each image statistic. The binary representation of each image statistic is generated by comparing the calculated image statistic values to predetermined image statistic values for grass. The method further includes weighting each of the binary representations of each image statistic, and summing corresponding neighborhoods for all image statistics. A binary threshold is applied to each of the summed neighborhoods to generate a binary map representing grass containing areas and non-grass containing areas.

摘要: The present invention relates to an orthopaedic implant, such as a bone plate, for the fixation of bone where the implant also has at least one microchip and at least one sensor connected to the microchip. The sensor or sensors are configured to receive physical stimulus from a portion of the implant or the patient's tissue such as temperature, pressure, and strain. The information received from the sensor or sensors is gathered by the microchip and transmitted to a receiver, such as a personal computer, outside the patient. This information enables doctors to diagnose the useful life of the implant, the load sharing of the bone plate, and possible complications typically associated with orthopaedic implants such as infection, fracture non-union, and fatigue. The implant may also have one or more electrodes located on its surface which emit an electric current to stimulate healing of the broken or fractured bone.

摘要: A lever for grasping bone tissue includes a shaft defining a channel and having a proximal end and a distal end, a claw member disposed on the distal end of the shaft for holding the bone tissue, and a rod threadably received in the channel and having a proximal end and a distal end. Rotation of the rod with respect to the shaft causes the rod to move substantially axially with respect to the shaft to selectively position the distal end of the rod with respect to the claw member. The lever may further include a locking member to allow the rod to slide axially with respect to the shaft. Various other features which improve the functioning of the lever may be provided separately or in combination.
