Abstract: Discloses is a system for the wireless transmission of energy and/or signals between spatially-separated regions with no electrically-conductive connection, the conversion of energy and/or signals into other forms of energy and/or forms of signal, and the application and/or detection of same in at least one peripheral region of said system. The system allows a wireless transmission of energy between at least two spatially-separated regions without an electrically-conductive connection, energy being supplied to at least one of these regions, transmitted to at least one additional region in a wireless manner, converted on demand into other forms of energy, and applied in a peripheral region of said system. Signals can be transmitted at the same time as energy is being transmitted.

Abstract: A tunable implant, system, and method enables a tunable implant to be adjusted within a patient. The tunable implant includes a securing mechanism to secure the implant in the patient, a actuation portion that enables the implant to move and an adjustment portion that permits adjustment of the implant after the implant has been positioned within the patient. The method of adjusting the tunable implant includes analyzing the operation of the implant, determining if any adjustments are necessary and adjusting the implant to improve implant performance. The implant system includes both the tunable implant and a telemetric system that is operable to telemetrically receive data from the tunable implant where the data is used to determine if adjustment of the tunable implant is necessary. The system also includes an instrument assembly that is used for performing spinal surgery where the instrument assembly includes a mounting platform and a jig.

Abstract: The invention relates to a hip joint prosthesis comprising a shaft-like section that can be inserted into a femur, and a proximally arranged end cap assembly which closes a hollow space of the hip joint prosthesis. According to the invention the end cap assembly carries a coil assembly that is connected to a first electrode with a first pole and to a second electrode with a second pole. The first and the second electrodes enclose surfaces of the hip joint prosthesis, and in a state in which the end cap assembly closes the hollow space of the hip joint prosthesis, the coil assembly is predominantly arranged in the hollow space.

Abstract: In a method, system and device for treating aneurysm a member is placed around the aneurysm, the aneurysm can be treated and monitored. The member can comprise a sensor placed in relation to a wall portion of the aneurysm for generating a signal corresponding to a parameter related to the aneurysm or the treatment of the aneurism. For example the size of the aneurysm such as the diameter of the aneurysm can be monitored. Hereby changes in the aneurism can be detected and information about the changes of the aneurysm can be used when determining how to treat the aneurysm.

Abstract: This system comprises: at least one vibrational sensor which is operable to produce data each time an impact application device applies an impact from a user to the prosthetic component during assembly between the prosthetic component and with the support member, the produced data representing acoustic vibrations generated in the air and/or material vibrations generated in the impact application device, an analysis unit which is configured both to calculate a frequency characterization of the vibrations for each impact applied by the impact application device to the prosthetic component, from the corresponding data produced by the at least one vibrational sensor, and to compare the frequency characterizations that are respectively calculated for successive impacts so as to provide at each of the successive impacts either a first indication when the assembly between the prosthetic component and the support member is not fully seated or a second indication when the assembly between the prosthetic component and the support member is fully seated, and a user interface which provides feedback to the user based on the first and second indications.
