Abstract:
A seating unit comprising a base configured to be positioned on a floor, a torsional energy unit connected to the base, a back connected to the torsional energy unit and a seat rotatably connected to the torsional energy unit. The torsional energy unit biases the back to a forward position. The torsional energy unit further limits angular rotation of the seat between a substantially horizontal seating position and a substantially vertical seating position.
Abstract:
A method for preventing unwanted damage to tissue in a spine of a patient during a tissue modification procedure may involve: advancing at least a distal portion of at least one barrier member over at least one guide member into an epidural space of the patient's spine; positioning at least an expanded portion of the barrier member between target tissue and non-target tissue; and performing at least one tissue modification procedure on the target tissue, using at least one tissue modification device. Generally, at least part of the barrier member may be disposed between the tissue modification device and the non-target tissue to prevent unwanted damage to the non-target tissue. In various embodiments, at least part of a barrier member may be advanced through a sheath- or catheter-like delivery device and may either automatically expand or be expandable from a collapsed configuration to an expanded configuration.
Abstract:
A cutting device in accordance with the present invention is deal for use in cutting pizza and other “flat-bread” like cuisine. For example, in accordance with various embodiments, a cutting device is provided which exhibits improved functionality and ease of use through the use of handle which directs the cutting force from a user in the most efficient manner to carryout the task of cutting, for example, pizza. Moreover, the handle may provide improved protection of the user from accidental injury during use as well as be suitably configured to retract in a manner which facilitates removal of the cutting blade.

Abstract:
The present invention provides an alignment method and cartridge apparatus for an apparatus for generating color text and graphics on photographic media. The cartridge has flanges which project therefrom and which interact with projections on the apparatus to guide the cartridge into secure and consistent alignment. A driving means and locking means for maintaining the driving means in the disengaged position upon withdrawal of the cartridge is also provided. The driving means is preferably a motor connected to a pivoting bracket which has an engagement pin extending therefrom. Biasing means act to urge the driving means into the engaged position. The locking means is preferably a pivoting locking bar having a notch at one end which interacts with the engagement pin extending from the driving means bracket. An actuation pin extends from the pivoting locking bar and bias means act to urge the pivoting locking bar into engagement with the driving means. The cartridge has a first and second shoulder formed thereon and a guide groove formed therein. Upon insertion of the cartridge, the second shoulder engages with the engagement pin of the driving means thereby releasing it from the locking bar. The guide groove simultaneously engages the actuation pin of the locking bar. As the cartridge is further inserted into the apparatus, the guide groove acts to pivot the locking bar away while the shoulder acts to guide the driving means into driving engagement with the rotatable font wheel. Bearing shafts are provided to support the rotatable font wheel against the force of the driving means. Upon withdrawal of the cartridge, the locking bar pivots into engagement with the driving means which is moved into the disengaged position through interaction between the engagement pin and the second shoulder.
Abstract:
Described herein are method, systems and devices for measuring the region adjacent to or around a nerve root, such as the space within an intervertebral foramen before, during and/or after a spinal decompression procedure. Measurement devices may be advanced by pulling on them using a guidewire passing through the intervertebral foramen and out of the subject. The measurement device may include sounds for determining one or more dimensions of the space around a nerve root within an intervertebral space, lateral recess or central canal. Various embodiments of sounds, including calibrated, inflatable, expandable, moldable, and tapered sounds (or combinations of these) are described.
Abstract:
A vegetable drying device is configured to remove excess moisture from suitably-sized vegetables through a spinning action. The device generally includes an outer bowl, an inner basket, a lid, and a cover assembly, wherein the cover assembly includes a pull-handle and a brake mechanism. The user grasps the handle and pulls outward, thus providing rotational energy, through a suitable mechanical coupling, to the inner basket and lid. The pull handle and attached cord are preferably retractable.
