The two load channels put each of the load chambers into communication respectively with an immediately adjacent annular chamber so as to ensure that the same pressure exists on both sides of the blocks separating said two chambers. In a predetermined safe position (referred to a “fail-freeze” position) in which the blocks close the load orifices with clearance, the leaks through the load orifices that result from the clearance are drained at determined low pressure, thus enabling the drift of the controlled member to be controlled.

The rotary valve member has a fluid conduit which extends in a generally radial direction and which communicates with the fluid inlet. Fluid orifices communicate with the fluid conduit and exit through opposite sides of the rotary valve member to thereby minimize, or eliminate altogether, axial forces acting on the rotary valve member. Fluid outlet passages communicate with the two fluid orifices during at least part of the rotation of the rotary valve member to direct the pressurized fluid to the valve outlets. The rotary valve may include a pair of rotary valve members drivingly connected to each other such that they rotate synchronously. The connection may include gear teeth formed on the adjacent peripheries of the rotary valve members such that rotation of one of the valve members causes rotation of the other. Each valve member may have a separate fluid inlet and separate fluid outlets.

A control system for a fluid actuated control member is disclosed which uizes a pair of electrically controlled servo valves to control the supply of servo pressure fluid to a control valve piston. The pair of servo valves are electrically controlled such that, under normal conditions, one of the servo valves is operative to supply the servo pressure signal, while the other servo valve remains in an inert, open position. Upon the detection of a malfunction in the operative servo valve, electrical switches render the malfunctioning valve inert and transfer the operative capabilities to the second servo valve. The hydraulic control system does retain 100% of its performance capabilities following a malfunction of the initial servo valve.

A main filter for an airplane fuel circuit or a fuel circuit for any type of mechanism, the filter having a first and second entry, which go directly into a chamber containing a filtering unit, the first entry receiving the fuel at a temperature essentially equal to that of the second entry which receives a hotter fuel which has passed through a heat exchanger. The filter prevents clogging due to ice formation on the filtering unit of the filter or at least inhibits such clogging. A fuel circuit using such a filter is also disclosed.

The device is of particular use in a fuel injection circuit.

The device comprises a chamber maintained at the servovalve feed pressure by the movement of a closure member to vary the opening of a port of the chamber. The closure member moves under the action of opposing forces comprising inter alia a force in the opening direction proportional to the servovalve feed pressure. An equilibrium position of the closure member is a function of pressure resulting from the engine speed. An injector delivery control loop is therefore isolated from a servovalve pressure and delivery control loop.

The metering device of the present invention is characterized by controlling the simultaneous relative positions of two sliding valve elements so that the degree of opening between fuel inlet and outlet orifices always corresponds to the setpoint of the fuel flow. If the position of either of the two sliding elements in the metering device of the present invention can no longer be controlled for whatever reason, such as being jammed, the other element may always be controlled to move relative to the jammed element such that the fuel flow may be controlled by the other element to correspond to that of the fuel flow setpoint. Thus, the metering device according to the present invention will continue to operate effectively even if the position of either of its slide elements can no longer be properly controlled, either because the element has jammed or because there has been a malfunction in its control system.
