摘要: An apparatus (1) for electrical stimulation of muscle tissue. The apparatus has an electrode system (10) with an electrode array (13). The array has a plurality of electrode pads (12) and can be placed in electrical contact with the muscle tissue. The electrode system Further has a sensor (30; 31-36) for sensing a property of the muscle tissue. The property forms a measure for the activity of the muscle tissue. The apparatus (1) has an electrode selector (530) for selecting one or more stimulating electrode pads. A signal generator (531) is connected to the electrode array (13) for providing an electrical stimulation signal to the stimulation electrode pad. A signal processor (532) is connected to said sensor (30; 31-36), for determining from the sensor signal a value of the muscle activity and outputting the value in a for humans perceptible form. This reduces the accuracy required to position the electrode system (10) and increases the accuracy of measuring the muscle tissue activity.

摘要: It is described a drug delivery system (100) that is adapted to infuse a drug in a profile related to the activity status of a patient (595). The system comprises acceleration sensors (112), dedicated electronics (120) and software to monitor the patient's activity and maintain control over the drug-release profile. The described system (100) enables a personalized treatment of patients (595) by monitoring their individual activity status and coupling this information to a drug delivery following appropriate delivery profiles. The system (100) may be provided with a memory in order to store a time dependence of activity data. This time dependence may be used by physicians to monitor, support and adapt their therapy for the patients. The system (100) maybe realized as a closed-loop system for monitoring and treatment of various diseases such as Parkinson s disease. Accelerations sensors (112) may be used in order to directly monitor a positional state and/or motions of the patient's body. The described system may allow for a more efficient use of the delivered drugs. This will result both in a reduction of the amount of required medication and a reduction of power required by the system (100).

摘要: An electrode structure for use with a monitoring system. A thin flexible body of an electrode material comprising conductive rubber is provided with projections extending externally to a working surface. According to this construction of the working surface of the electrode only the projections make a contact to the recipient's skin. When the projections are provided with a small cross-section, the constant electrode-skin contact is ensured due to the resiliency of the electrode material.

摘要: The invention concerns a system and a method for calculating the physical activity level (PAL) as an objective measure of the physical activity of an object over a certain period of time. The system (1) comprises an activity monitor (2) having three orthogonally mounted accelerometers (4, 5 and 6) for measuring the acceleration of the object, data processing means (7) and memory means (8). The activity monitor (2) further comprises communication means (12) for communicating with calculating means (3) for calculating the PAL. According to the claimed method the calculating means use the following algorithm: PAL=factor 1+factor 2*(variable 1)factor 3+factor 4*(variable 2)factor 5+ . . . +factor(2n)*(variable n)factor (2n+1). Herein are variable 1 through variable n related to the object and/or the system and are factor 1 through factor 2n+1 to be determined by validation of the system.
