摘要: A method for determining and responding in real-time to an increased risk of death relating to a patient with epilepsy is provided. The method includes receiving cardiac data and determining a cardiac index based upon the cardiac data. The method includes determining an increased risk of death associated with epilepsy if the indices are extreme, issuing a warning of the increased risk of death and logging information related to the increased risk of death. Also presented is a second method for determining and responding in real-time to an increased risk of death relating to a patient with epilepsy comprising receiving at least one of arousal data, responsiveness data or awareness data and determining an arousal index, a responsiveness index or an awareness index, where the indices are based on arousal data, responsiveness data or awareness data respectively. The second method includes determining an increased risk of death related to epilepsy if indices are extreme values, issuing a warning of the increased risk of death and logging information related to the increased risk of death. A computer readable program storage device is also provided. Also provided is a method for receiving body data, determining a cardiac, an arousal, a responsiveness, or a kinetic index, determining an increased or increasing risk of death over a first time window relating to a patient with epilepsy and issuing a warning and logging relevant information.

摘要: A detector assembly configured for use in a dialysis (e.g., a hemodialysis) system is disclosed herein. The detector assembly including a wetness detector configured to detect blood, fluid, a leak, etc. The detector assembly being operatively coupled to, and more preferably, including an inertial measurement unit (IMU). Thus arranged, the detector assembly is configured to measure, read, obtain, provide, etc. additional information or data during a dialysis treatment, which information or data can be transmitted and/or used to, for example, provide greater insight into the system and/or to make better decisions. In one embodiment, the detector assembly can be used to determine when and how a patient is moving and feed that information back to the dialysis machine. In use, the information or data can be used in combination with other information to make an improved determination as to the requirement for an alert and/or stoppage of the dialysis treatment.

摘要: An implantable device, adapted for assisting the flow of blood from left atrium to an aorta of an in-vivo heart, includes an inlet cannula and an outlet cannula in fluid communication with an implanted blood pressure pump. A first accelerometer is mounted on a housing of the blood pressure pump and is adapted for measuring mitral valve motion. An external controller is in electrical communication with at least one implanted ECG sensor adapted for detecting ECG signals. The at least one implanted ECG sensor is positioned between the implanted blood pressure pump and the external controller. The external controller includes a processor adapted to analyse detected ECG signals and the mitral valve motion. The processor dynamically adjusts a target blood pressure pump speed based on ECG signals and the mitral valve motion such that blood flows from left atrium to left ventricle and then to the aorta.

摘要: A method of operating an insulin infusion device involves: operating the infusion device in an automatic mode to automatically control delivery of insulin to a user, in accordance with a first target glucose setpoint value; receiving user status data that indicates sleeping status of the user, the user status data generated by a sleep detection system; and determining, from the user status data, that the user is sleeping while the insulin infusion device is operating in the automatic mode. In response to the determining, the method transitions from the first target glucose setpoint value to a second (different) target glucose setpoint value for use during the automatic mode, the transitioning occurring without user input. The method continues to operate the infusion device in the automatic mode to automatically control delivery of insulin to the user, in accordance with the second target glucose setpoint value.

摘要: A system and method for operating an analgesia administration system is disclosed. A control device is associated with a drug delivery device and configured to receive a first user input including at least a portion of a fingerprint of a patient, together with a second user input corresponding to a request to administer medication. The portion of the fingerprint is compared with previously-stored fingerprints to determine an identity of the patient and, in response to receiving the second user input and determining that the patient is an authorized user, one or more sensors are used to obtain one or more signals indicative of a state of the patient. If the state of the patient satisfies a set of medication delivery criteria, the drug delivery device is caused to administer a predefined amount of medication to the patient.

摘要: Systems and methods assist with managing a chronic disease of a user such as a chronic respiratory or cardiac disease. The system may include a physiological monitor adapted to be carried by the user and operative to sense a physiological parameter of the user by generating one or more signals. The system may include a management device operatively coupled with the physiological monitor to receive the signal(s) and derive the physiological parameter(s) of the user. The management device, such as with an included processor, may be configured to analyze the physiological and/or environmental parameters to detect a trigger pattern of the parameters, the trigger pattern indicative of a probable event of exacerbation of the chronic respiratory and/or cardiac condition. The management device may then generate automated responses based on the trigger pattern such as by providing instructions for activities and/or treatment for the chronic condition.
