摘要: A vehicular display that contains a sparse array of light-emitting diodes (LEDs), system, and method of fabrication are disclosed. The vehicular display includes at least one tile disposed in a vehicle to provide a display of internal and external information. Each tile has a transparent flexible substrate, a sparse array of LEDs disposed on the transparent flexible substrate, a rigid substrate adhered to the transparent flexible substrate via an adhesive layer in which the sparse array of LEDs is encapsulated, and a driver disposed on an edge of the tile and configured to drive the LEDs. The LEDs are sparse enough to enable information to be displayed through a vehicle window while still enabling a viewer to see through the window.

摘要: A virtual reality (VR) headset, system, and method of fabrication are disclosed. The VR headset includes a frame, a transparent display that includes an array of light-emitting diodes (LEDs), and a darkening layer having a controllable opacity, and a processor controlling the display and darkening layer. A proximity sensor detects a potential collision, and the opacity is changed from opaque to transparent in response to detection of the potential collision. The opacity is changed in response to activation of a virtual user input or predetermined eye movement.

摘要: A backlight illumination system for illuminating a large area with light of a uniform color has a set of a pre-determined number of light emitters arranged along a straight line. The set is divided in a plurality of subsets, each subset including at least two light emitters. Each subset comprises light emitters with substantially the same light-emission color point, the respective subsets having color points different from each other. As a first step, the light emitters of the subset with a smallest number of light emitters are assigned to respective substantially equidistant positions. The light emitters of the set are assigned to the respective positions by iteratively starting with the subset with the smallest number of light emitters, assigning the light emitters of the subset to substantially equidistant positions which are not yet occupied. The backlight illumination system according to the invention has a uniform light and color distribution.
