    摘要: The HID lamp mount has a discharge tube with two ends. A shroud surrounds the tube. Shroud clips position the shroud ends. The shroud clips have arcuate portions engaging the shroud periphery and transverse portions spanning the shroud diameter and grasping and positioning the tube ends. A shroud rod attaches between the clips to maintain their positioning. An electrical lead-in connects the second electrode terminus and has a first leg extending transversely from the terminus and a second leg extending parallel to the electrode. An offset electrical lead-in connects the first electrode terminus, and has a first section extending transversely to the first electrode, a second section extending parallel to the shroud, a third section extending toward the shroud, and a fourth section extending parallel to the shroud. An offset electrical lead-in retaining clip is affixed to the shroud and the fourth section of the offset electrical lead-in retaining clip.

    摘要: An arc tube for a discharge lamp comprises an hermetically sealed hollow body containing an arc generating and sustaining medium therein and having first and second ends. An electrode receiving capillary extends from each end and an electrode structure is positioned in each of the capillaries. Each of the electrode structures comprises a proximal, electrode end projecting into the interior of the hollow body, a distal end projecting exteriorly of the capillary, and an intermediate section therebetween, a first area of the intermediate section being sealed to the capillary in an hermetic manner and a second area of the intermediate section being exposed to the medium. A starting aid comprises an electrically conducting member surrounding the capillary extending from the first end at the second area of the intermediate section and is electrically connected to the distal end of the electrode structure positioned in the second end. The starting aid provides a capacitively coupled ionization mechanism for starting the lamp.

    摘要: A mounting assembly for a reflector lamp. The mounting assembly comprises a 0.050" diameter stainless steel rod that has been formed into a three-turn spiral. The spiral surrounds the inner jacket mount assembly of the reflector lamp, and fits into the neck region of the reflector. The lower leg of the spiral either takes the place of, or augments a "dummy" lead presently used in the inner jacket press, so that one or both fit into the reflector eyelet opening in the neck of the reflector. The opposite end of the spiral piece extends upwardly, and is connected to the upper lead of the Model No. PAR30L inner jacket mount assembly of the Model No. MPD70 lamp.

    摘要: A metal halide discharge lamp includes an outer evacuated sealed glass envelope having a domed end and a socket end spaced from the domed end along a longitudinal axis. The socket end is subject to high temperature sealing fires during the lamp manufacturing process. A getter material is contained in the envelope for removing gaseous materials therefrom, the getter material being positioned in the envelope in an area of the lamp remote from the socket end. A pair of electrical conductors extend into the interior of the glass envelope and an arc tube containing an arc sustaining chemical fill and including a pair of spaced electrodes is electrically connected to the electrical conductors for creating an electric arc during operation of the lamp. The getter material comprises about 70 weight percent zirconium, about 24.6 weight percent vanadium, and about 5.4 weight percent iron. The activation temperature of the getter is in the range of 400.degree.-500.degree. C.

    摘要: An arc discharge tube has electrodes supported by hollow electrode support tubes at each end. A slot is formed in the electrode support tube. One edge of the slot is depressed inwardly to form a concave surface. The slot is located adjacent to the end cap of the arc tube and provides access to the interior of the electrode support tube. After the electrode assembly is sealed into one end of the arc tube, amalgam particles are dispensed into the arc tube. The arc tube is agitated rapidly, causing the amalgam particles to pass through the slot and drop into the interior of the electrode support tube. The amalgam particles are isolated from heat during sealing of the other end of the arc tube.

    摘要: A lamp assembly that comprises a hollow arc discharge light source having a center arc chamber containing an arc generating and sustaining medium and first and second ends with an electrode receiving capillary extending from each end and arrayed along a longitudinal axis. The ends are cylindrical in cross-section. An electrode structure is positioned in each of the capillaries and each of these electrode structures comprises a proximal electrode end projecting into the interior of the center arc chamber, a distal end projecting exteriorly of said capillary and an intermediate section therebetween. A first area of the intermediate section is sealed to the capillary in an hermetic manner and a second area of the intermediate section is exposed to the medium. A tubular shroud surrounds the light source and is coaxial with the longitudinal axis. The shroud has two ends. A pair of spring clips, one at each end of said shroud, mount the light source within the shroud. Each of the spring clips comprises a base in a first plane and has an aperture centrally located therein, each aperture of one of the spring clips frictionally engaging one of the cylindrical ends of the light source at a position adjacent the second area of the intermediate section. Both spring clips are electrically connected to a frame, which is electrically to one of the electrode structures.
