A transfer printing station is provided which has two pairs of tractor drives movably arranged side-by-side on two drive shafts. During operation with only a single paper web, the unused tractor drives can be moved to a lateral parking position. The two pairs of tractor drives can be easily moved to match two different webs of paper of different widths. The structure enables a user to adapt the paper conveyor of a transfer printing station to operate with only a single paper web or two parallel webs.

A web-tensioning unit located downstream relative to the direction of transport of the transport device, applies a traction force to the web sections in the direction of travel. One span of the belts presents the recording carrier to the feed device while another span withdraws the recording carrier from the feed device. The film is wrapped around the cylinder such that springs on the spring contact strip are caused to snap over knobs on the knob contact strip causing a tight wrapping of the film about the cylinder.
