    摘要: A Safety Vacuum Release System (SVRS) which incorporates a water flow-rate sensor in electrical communication with the electric motor which powers a swimming pool pump at an aquatic facility. When the flow of water drops to a rate indicative of a flow blockage at a suction outlet fitting within the pool, the SVRS shuts down the electric pump motor to release a suction entrapped bather. In one embodiment, the flow-rate sensor can be a transit time or a Doppler unit which features a non-invasive, clamp-on installation onto the circulation pipe. The SVRS can display the real-time rate of flow of the circulation system, the real-time turnover rate of the swimming pool, and signal the operator when it is time to clean the pool filter. The SVRS can also maintain the optimum flow rate of the circulation system by adjusting the speed of a variable speed pump motor as hydraulic resistance changes.

    摘要: An automatic heat exchanger tempering valve designed to maintain a consistent temperature of a fluid within a machine. The tempering valve is configured to sense fluid temperature and in response, to proportion the flow of the fluid from the machine between a heat exchanger and an either internal or external by-pass flow circuit. The valve includes a movable valve diverter positionable in multiple positions to create a variety of proportionate flows of the total fluid flow stream between the heat exchanger and the by-pass flow circuit. The valve diverter is positioned by a multiple position valve actuator that changes the position of the diverter by reacting to a change in fluid temperature. The valve and the bypass flow circuit are easily installed within a motor vehicle by simply splicing into the two radiator hoses in the engine compartment.

    摘要: A flow blockage suction interrupt of the present invention reduces the dangerous possibility of bodily suction entrapment of a bather in a swimming, wading, or hydrotherapy pool. The safety valve operates to instantaneously introduce atmosphere into a suction piping system of a pool when a dangerous vacuum condition is detected. The incoming atmosphere breaks the vacuum, freeing entrapped bather. The safety valve includes a dynamic plug and dual spring-loaded actuators, one closing and one opening the valve to atmosphere. The closing actuator is dominant until the opening actuator is triggered by the dangerously high vacuum level that accompanies bodily suction entrapment. The preferred embodiment incorporates a spring-loaded telescopic actuator shaft that is spring-loaded to open fully once triggered, and is triggered by a factory-calibrated diaphragm-actuated suction sensor. Once this safety valve has been tripped, it must be manually reset by the pool operator.

    摘要: A water filtration technique is designed to maximize the efficient performance of a variety of granular filtration media. The technique maintains the granular filtration media in a compacted state between a perforated outer media container and a perforated inner media container, where the perforated inner media container is a smaller similitude of the perforated outer media container. In the preferred embodiment of the filtration device of the present invention, the perforated outer and inner media containers are substantially spherical. By maintaining the granular filtration media in a static-state throughout filtration, highly efficient filtration is achieved. In contrast, during the backwash function, the normal inward flow is reversed to outward radial flow and granular filtration media is agitated, fluidized and quickly and vigorously cleaned. A plurality of high-velocity centrally-located water jets create the outward radial flow during backwashing.

    摘要: An apparatus for circulating water in a swimming pool including a strainer that is connected to a swimming pool unfiltered intake with a pump connected to the strainer for pumping water from the strainer to a filter. The filter in turn is connected to a swimming pool filtered return for depositing the filtered water into the swimming pool. The invention includes a valve connected to the pump, strainer and filter for temporarily altering the flow of water from the swimming pool drain to the pump and back through the strainer in a direction that is opposite to the flow of water from the swimming pool drain to a waste drain. A method for cleaning the residue collected by a strainer in a swimming pool water circulation system is also included that also includes altering the flow of water from the swimming pool intake to a pump, in order that the pump may pump water in a direction opposite to the normal flow of water through a strainer to remove particles contained in the strainer. The altered flow of water containing the particles from the strainer is then directed to a waste drain.

    摘要: A motor with associated load sensor is connected to a circulation pump of a swimming pool circulation system. The load sensor performs the function of a safety vacuum release system by detecting underload of the motor. Underload is now discovered to be reliably indicative of blockage on the intake side of a circulation pump. A switch controlled by the load sensor shuts off the motor in response to a suitable underload. Vacuum on the intake side of the circulation pump neutralizes, thereby freeing a person or object blocking the suction line.
