摘要: A gas-expansion cooler assembly has an expansion structure with an expansion orifice and an expansion reservoir in fluid-flow communication with an expansion-orifice outlet. A heat exchanger has a heat-exchanger inlet, and a heat-exchanger outlet in fluid-flow communication with the expansion-orifice inlet. The heat exchanger includes at least two heat-exchanger plates stacked in a facing relationship along an assembly axis. Each heat-exchanger plate includes an in-plane channel lying substantially in a plane perpendicular to the assembly axis. The in-plane channels of the adjacent heat-exchanger plates are in fluid-flow communication with each other and with the expansion-orifice inlet to form a continuous high-pressure fluid-flow path from the heat-exchanger inlet to the expansion-orifice inlet. The heat exchanger further includes an axial channel extending parallel to the assembly axis. The axial channels in the adjacent heat-exchanger plates are in fluid-flow communication with each other and with the expansion reservoir to form a continuous exhaust fluid-flow path from the expansion reservoir to an exhaust port.

摘要: A method of configuring a mount or of controlling sway in an object to be mounted includes configuring isolators of the mount to put a center of elasticity of the flexible mount at a desired height relative to a base of the mount. This desired distance may be at a location of expected minimum clearance between the object to be mounted and the structure expected to surround the object to be mounted and is the center of rotation of the flexible mount. The location of the center of elasticity also may be farther from the base than a center of mass or gravity of the object to be mounted. An equation relating the location of the center of elasticity as a function of isolator material properties and of angle between the isolators and the base may be used to analytically predict the location of the center of elasticity and the center of rotation.

摘要: Embodiments of a multi-waveband sensor system and method for seeking targets are generally described herein. In some embodiments, the multi-waveband sensor system includes a secondary reflector positioned within a gathering path of a primary reflector to reflect the wavebands gathered by the primary reflector back through an aperture in the primary reflector. The multi-waveband sensor system may also include a laser waveband dichroic beam splitter positioned within a focal path of the secondary reflector to pass infrared (IR) wavebands and to reflect laser wavebands. A LADAR subsystem may transmit laser wavebands for reflection by the laser waveband dichroic beam splitter through the aperture to the secondary reflector for reflection to an off-axis region on the primary reflector for direction toward a target.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for countering a projectile according to various aspects of the present invention may operate in conjunction with a countermeasure system. The countermeasure system may comprise a beam source adapted to generate an electromagnetic beam. The countermeasure system may further include a beam control system adapted to aim the electromagnetic beam at the projectile according to a fire control solution. The beam heats at least a portion of the projectile to a disruption temperature to deflagrate the projectile.
