摘要： Wire finishing apparatus wherein the leader of a supply of convoluted wire is threaded through a combined straightening and calibrating unit and into the range of feed rolls in a shaving unit. The rolls of the calibrating unit are moved apart during such threading but engage and calibrate the wire when the latter is pulled by the feed rolls so that it passes through the revolving shaving head and the leader reaches and is connected to the drum of a collecting unit. The drum is thereupon started to withdraw the wire at a higher speed whereby an overrunning clutch allows the feed rolls to rotate at the speed which is determined by the motor which rotates the drum. The rolls of the calibrating unit are adjusted to furnish a more pronounced calibrating action when the wire begins to advance at the higher speed.

摘要： A straightening pass in an apparatus for straightening of elongated tubular or rod stock has a concave skew roll and a composite second skew roll located opposite the concave roll with reference to the center line of the pass. The second skew roll has a driven median section provided with two coaxial trunnions and two outer sections each of which has a disk eccentrically mounted on a trunnion and a stock-engaging ring which is rotatable on the respective disk. The disks are angularly adjustable on their trunnions and are adjustably coupled to a holder for the second skew roll. The rings can be rotated in response to rotation of the median section by providing them with internal gears which receive torque from gears provided on the respective trunnions.

摘要： Apparatus for centering and clamping tubes, rods or like workpieces has two double-acting cylinders which are reciprocable along parallel feed screws rotatably mounted in the frame of the apparatus. The feed screws have oppositely inclined mirror symmetrical threads meshing with internal threads provided on nuts which are adjustably fastened to the cylinders. The cylinders support mirror symmetrical work-engaging claws and receive pistons which are connected to each other by a piston rod extending midway between and being parallel with the feed screws. When the chambers of the cylinders receive a pressurized fluid so that the cylinders and their claws move toward or away from each other, the feed screws rotate and insure that the cylinders move at the same rate.

摘要： Apparatus which clamps one or more tubular or solid rod-shaped workpieces during forcible introduction of leading ends of such workpieces into the dies of a draw bench is mounted in a carriage which is reciprocable in the frame of the draw bench toward and away from the dies. The apparatus has pairs of wedge-like adjusting members which support wedge-like holders for workengaging clamping elements and are movable along inclined internal guide surfaces of the carriage in response to rotation of feed screws. The inclination of guide surfaces with reference to the direction of reciprocation of the carriage exceeds the self-locking angle and the inclination of guide faces provided on the adjusting members for the holders is below the self-locking angle. A piston is employed to block the movement of one of each pair of adjusting members with reference to the carriage while the carriage performs a working stroke and while the clamping elements hold a workpiece behind the leading end which is to be forced through the die.

摘要： A device for conveying fluids or electric current between a stationary source and a mobile consumer, such as one or more motors on the reciprocable carriage of a drawing machine, has a package of elongated sections wherein the upper end of each intermediate section is pivoted to the upper end of one neighboring section and the lower end of each intermediate section is pivoted to the lower end of the other neighboring section. One end of one outer section is connected to the carriage which is reciprocable toward and away from the source along one or more elongated first guide rails tracked by roller followers provided on alternating sections of the package close to the upper ends of such sections. The upper ends of some or all of the sections carry roller followers which track a second guide rail located above the first guide rails and having a downwardly sloping portion close to the source. When the carriage moves toward the source, successive sections are pivoted in the region of the sloping portion to assume substantially vertical positions close to each other. When the carriage is moved away from the source, successive sections are pivoted to move into a substantially horizontal plane and to form an elongated pipeline extending lengthwise of the first guide rails.
