    摘要: A method for manufacturing a continuous sucker rod coil, wherein the method includes the step of selecting a plurality of input coils, each input coil having the same uniform hardness, and each input coil having two free ends. The method further includes the step of fusing adjacent free ends of adjacent input coils together to form one continuous length of rod, the fusing creating fused areas and a heat-affected zone at each fused area. The method also includes the step of treating each of the heat-affected zones to alleviate irregularities induced during fusing. Additionally, the method includes the step of winding the continuous length of rod into a finished coil.

    摘要: Various wires and methods of making the same are disclosed. In one aspect, a wire is provided that includes a core and a tube around the core. The tube is composed of an alloy containing about 33 to 37% nickel, about 31.5 to 39% cobalt, about 9 to 10.5% molybdenum, and about 19 to 21% chromium. The wire has an ultimate tensile strength of about 150 to 250 kpsi, an amount of cold work following a final anneal and a torsional ductility of greater than about 6 turns-to-failure per inch of the wire.

    摘要: A high-performance Nb3Al extra-fine multifilamentary superconducting wire is produced simply and inexpensively through the improvement of critical values, Tc, Hc2 and Jc, without the addition of third elements such as Ge, Si and Cu. A first rapid heating and quenching treatment is applied to an Nb/Al composite wire having an atomic ratio of Al to Nb from 1:2.5 to 1:3.5 and having an extra-fine multifilamentary structure to form a BCC alloy phase comprising Nb with Al supersaturatedly dissolved therein wherein the treatment comprises heating the composite wire up to a temperature not lower than 1900° C. within two seconds and then introducing it into a molten metal at a temperature not higher than 400° C. to rapidly quench it. The wire is subjected to a second rapid heating and quenching treatment to form an A15-Nb3Al compound having a low degree of crystalline order but having an approximately stoichiometric composition wherein the second treatment comprises heating the wire up to a temperature not lower than 1500° C. within two seconds and then introducing it into a molten metal at a temperature not higher than 400° C. Then, an additional heat treatment is conducted to improve the degree of crystalline order of the Al5-Nb3Al compound having an approximately stoichiometric composition.

    摘要: A bow beam, as well as a method of making the beam for the roof of truck trailer, is described as being initially extruded in a U-shape with a flat web which is heavier than a pair of legs which extend from the web. The extruded beam is then placed in a press where the free ends of the legs are bent to form a bow in the topside of the beam in spaced relation from the flat bottom web. Thus, the strength of the beam is optimized with a minimal amount of material.

    摘要: Method for manufacturing a tapered rod for a coil spring from a metallic material of mainly steel in a linear state, by imparting heating to the same with a predetermined temperature gradient pattern in the axial direction thereof while or before pulling by tensile force the metallic material chucked at two axially distant points in either direction in a gradually decreasing or stepwise decreasing speed, until a desired tapered portion is formed. An apparatus preferably employed for this method comprises a pulling mechanism for chucking and pulling the material, an electric current supplying mechanism for supplying predetermined amount of current to the material between the two chucked points, a plurality of cooling units arranged axially along the material for positionwise cooling the material so as to make the temperature gradient thereon, a temperature detecting device for detecting the surface temperature of the material for feeding back the detected data to the current supplying mechanism, and a heating temperature controlling device for controlling the amount of the current flowed there.

    摘要: Method of producing bright steel from rolled steel wire, in which the diameter of the rolled wire is first reduced by passing the same through a calibrating device, preferably a reducing mill, whereby internal stresses assymetrical with respect to the wire axis are produced in the wire, thereafter removing peripheral surface portions from the wire and subsequently straightening the wire, and subjecting the wire before removing peripheral surface portions therefrom to a radial bending force rotating about the axis of the wire to plastically deform the latter to thus reduce the assymetrical internal stresses to thereby improve the perfect roundness of the finished product.
