    摘要: A transmission having a double rotation torque converter and including a central assembly in which is mounted both a first brake for securing the torque converter guide ring against rotation and a second brake which cooperates with a planetary gear to cause rotation of the guide ring oppositely from the turbine ring of the torque converter. The two brakes and at least part of the planetary gear are mounted in the central assembly. The guide shaft extending axially from the guide ring is radially journalled in the central assembly. The transmission also includes a fluid communication system which, in cooperation with a pump, controls the mode of operation of the torque converter. The pump and most of the fluid system passageways may also be located within the central assembly. The torque converter may include a releasable torque transmitting member and the transmission may include further gearing stages downstream from the torque converter and the central assembly.

    摘要: A torque converter of the type having a rotating casing connectable to a driving source and forming a working chamber. In the casing is a pump part comprising a ring of pump blades, a reaction part comprising a ring of guide blades and a turbine part including at least one ring of turbine blades. The pump part is mounted to be selectively connected to the casing for rotation therewith or released from the casing to rotate freely relative thereto. The selectable connection between the pump part and the casing may be a friction coupling such as engaging conical friction surfaces or a friction disc coupling. The pump part itself may serve as a piston for engaging or disengaging the pump part with the casing. Movement of this pump part may also control a direct drive connection between the casing and the turbine shaft. A forward reverse gear and/or a synchromesh gear may be connected to the turbine shaft.

    摘要: A heat exchanger especially adapted for use in combination with a transmission such as a hydraulic torque converter. A plurality of generally flat cooling cells are stacked upon each other, each cell including a pair of plates sealed together about their outer periphery and forming therebetween a fluid flow space. Each cell includes a separate inlet opening and outlet opening passing completely therethrough in a direction perpendicular to the direction of stacking. In the stack, all of the inlet holes communicate with each other to form the inlet while all of the outlet holes communicate with each other to form the outlet. A sealing device encircles each opening in each space between the cells. The sealing means can include a pair of concentric rings between which an opening can be provided through the cells without communicating with the interior thereof, for draining leaking fluid to atmosphere. The individual cells are of the same shape so that any selected number thereof can be utilized depending on the desired capacity of the heat exchanger. Within the cells, a spacing structure surrounding each opening spaces the plates apart providing both a space for fluid flow therepast between the opening and the cell interior and a leakage flow path therethrough which does not communicate with the cell interior. The spacing structure may be a separate member. Alternatively, in one arrangement wherein the cells are formed only by two plates appropriately stamped out and mated together, the stamping can include shaping to form the spacing structure.

    摘要: A rotatable driving connection between driving and driven parts of the type having abutments in one part engaging radially extending slots in the other part, the abutments preferably being arranged in groups so that the resultant of the forces in one group is perpendicular to the resultant of the forces in the other group. A metallic strip between the opposed abutment and slot surfaces on the drive side is resiliently bent so that it is relatively stiff and engages both the abutment and slot surfaces and is such that it flattens to increase its stiffness upon an increase in the driving load. The metallic strip between the other side of the abutment and its slot surface, which is preferably an integral extension of the strip on the drive side of the abutment, is more resilient than the strip on the drive side of the abutment and is arranged to normally urge its respective abutment and slot surfaces apart causing the drive side abutment/slot surfaces to engage their respective metallic strip, and concurrently preventing backlash and maintaining contact between the later abutment/slot surfaces indirectly via the strip to the opposite side of the abutment and through the abutment to the last said abutment surface.
