The repeater baseband block includes a channel estimation block, an echo canceller implementing time domain echo cancellation, a variable gain stage controlled by a gain control block implementing digital gain control, a first variable delay element introducing a first delay before or after the echo canceller, a second variable delay element introducing a second delay to the output signal. The delayed output signal is coupled to the channel estimation block as a reference signal for estimating the feedback channel, to the echo canceller as a reference signal for estimating the feedback signal, and to the gain control block for monitoring the stability of the repeater.

    摘要: Methods and systems are provided to configure a frequency repeater. The frequency repeater is configured with an identity of a service provider and receives a message that defines a set of frequencies to be repeated, the frequencies are associated with a service provider that matches the preconfigured identity. A digital filter receives an incoming signal from the service provider, and filters and repeats the frequencies defined in the received message. The frequency receiver can also determine a set of frequencies to be filtered and repeated based on a cell search procedure performed with a modem that resides in the repeater. A policy established by the service provider can also be utilized to facilitate defining the set of figures to be repeated. By utilizing a signal quality metric and an isolation metric associated, with the performance of a receive and transmit antenna utilized by the repeater, the set of frequencies to be filtered and repeated can be adapted in real time.

    摘要: A wireless repeater includes a receiver circuit implemented as an intermediate frequency (IF) subsampling receiver and a transmitter circuit implemented as a direct conversion (zero-IF) transmitter. The repeater further includes a reference receiver implemented as an IF subsampling receiver to sample a portion of the transmit signal prior to over-the-air transmission for use as the reference signal for channel estimation. Highly accurate channel estimation is obtained by using the reference signal from the reference receiver as the reference signal accounts for distortions in the transmitter circuit of the repeater. The repeater may include an echo canceller to cancel an estimated feedback amount from an input signal based on the channel estimation.

Further, operatively, the exemplary repeater can maintain a delay sufficient to preferably ensure that transmitted signal is de-correlated with the desired receiver signal, and time aligned and correlated with the feedback leakage signal.

    摘要: Methods and systems are provided to generate digital coefficients for a filter. The generation of coefficients relies on a Fourier transformation of an impulse response in time domain that is zero padded, e.g., zeros are appended to an array corresponding to a sampled input signal of length M. A unit prototypical filter is generated through a frequency domain response of length NFFT=NS+M−1, wherein NS is a sampling length of the incoming signal. The unit prototypical filter is then circularly shifted in order to generate a band pass filter centered at a desired frequency. Circularly shifted filters are point-to-point added to generate a set of composite digital coefficients to filter the incoming signal. The reference frequencies for the composite filter are extracted from a message received from one or more base stations associated with one or more service providers. The composite filter typically operates on a frequency repeater.

One or more passive antenna elements can be disposed on a similar side of the backplane as the active antenna element. Settings of the one or more passive antenna elements are adjusted to produce an input/output beam pattern that varies depending on whether the at least one passive antenna element is reflective or transmissive. Based on this technique, an RF input output beam pattern of an antenna assembly including the backplane, active antenna element and passive antenna elements can be controlled for better reception and transmission of RF signals.
