Abstract:
An apparatus for detecting a puncture comprises a housing comprising a plurality of compartments. Each compartment comprises an opening for receiving a flow of air into the compartment. Each compartment also comprises a detection element mounted on an axle, the axle having a first end and a second end and being secured at said first end and said second end within the compartment. The detection element is rotatable about the axle and when a flow of air passes through the opening into the compartment, the detection element rotates around the axle in response to the flow of air.
Abstract:
A cup liner for a cup of a spray gun includes a fluid reservoir portion that defines a reservoir and includes a divider portion dividing the reservoir into two or more compartments. Each compartment contains a fluid to be dispensed by the spray gun and keeps the fluids separated from fluids held by other compartments. In addition, a fitting for a spray gun includes two or more inlet interfaces and an outlet interface. Each inlet interface couples to a fluid source and the outlet couples to the spray gun such that the fitting provides fluid communication between each fluid source and the spray gun. This permits the spray gun to spray a mixture of the fluids.

A dental implant comprising a base, a central shaft and a shock absorber spacing and allowing limited movement between the base and the central shaft.
Abstract:
A vertebral osteosynthesis equipment including an intervertebral implant (1); a member (2) for connecting vertebral bodies (100) of both treated vertebrae intended to be assembled to the intervertebral implant (1); and a member (3) for assembling the connecting member (2) to the intervertebral implant (1). The intervertebral implant (1) includes on its proximal side relatively to the direction of its introduction into the intervertebral space (102), a hole comprising two coaxial portions, i.e. a proximal portion of larger section and a distal portion of smaller section, these proximal and distal portions comprising respective connecting means. The connecting member (2) includes a hole which allows it to be engaged onto a guiding rod (50) intended to be inserted into said distal portion (13) of the hole of the implant (1), and the assembling member (3) comprises a conduit on this guiding rod (50).
Abstract:
Semiconductor devices on a diffusion barrier coated metal substrates, and methods of making the same are disclosed. The semiconductor devices include a metal substrate, a diffusion barrier layer on the metal substrate, an insulator layer on the diffusion barrier layer, and a semiconductor layer on the insulator layer. The method includes forming a diffusion barrier layer on the metal substrate, forming an insulator layer on the diffusion barrier layer; and forming a semiconductor layer on the insulator layer. Such diffusion barrier coated substrates prevent diffusion of metal atoms from the metal substrate into a semiconductor device formed thereon.
Abstract:
A fluorescence microscopy sequencer comprises a fluid transport subsystem in which reagents are pumped through a series of multi-port valves to a mixer or one or more flow cells, or directly into the flow cell(s). The one or more multi-port valves can be mounted upon a fluids manifold having syringe tubes mounted on the opposite side. Mounted on a movable support, the manifold may be brought into and out of fluid communication with a storage block comprising the plurality of reagents. In another embodiment, the sequencer comprises a beamsplitter indexer that facilitates the quick and reliable switching of filter cubes through use of a stepper motor. In yet another embodiment, a motion control system is provided in which an inertial reference is interposed between and directly coupled to a first and second axis of control, thereby minimizing any low structural resonant frequencies and enabling high performance (high frequency response) motion control.
Abstract:
A system is provided for detecting the presence of a human in a compartment of a vehicle that comprises a pyroelectric sensor and a control coupled to the pyroelectric sensor. The pyroelectric sensor comprises a first sensing element and a second sensing element. The first sensing element is arranged in an opposed electrical connection with respect to the second sensing element whereby infrared radiation from a human moving within the compartment is selectively detected by one of the first sensing element and the second sensing element, thereby producing an output signal of the pyroelectric sensor. This output signal is received by the control, and the control generates a control signal indicative of detection of a human within the compartment.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for sorting fish comprising receiving the image of a fish in a video camera and storing it in an image plane memory. The boundary values of the image are determined, as well as the areas, length and width of the image. Ratios of predetermined ones of the areas, length and/or width, are determined, and the specie of the fish is indicated from predetermined ratios of those areas.
