摘要: A disc brake includes a brake disc, a sliding caliper, a single piston, and a brake pad carrier comprising a leading part and a trailing part. The brake pad carrier includes mounting features for securing the brake pad carrier to an associated structure of a vehicle. The mounting features define a mounting side and a non-mounting side of the brake. A mounting side brake pad comprises mounting side friction material and a non-mounting side brake pad comprising non-mounting side friction material. The center of pressure of the non-mounting side friction material is circumferentially aligned with the piston and the center of pressure of the mounting side friction material is offset in relation to the piston towards the leading part of the brake pad carrier.

摘要: A brake assembly includes a caliper having a first side portion connected to a second side portion by two circumferentially spaced bridge arms. The brake assembly includes a first brake pad and a second brake pad that are interchangeable and each having first and second circumferential ends. Each of the first and second brake pads have a pad formation remote from the first and second circumferential ends. The first brake pad is fitted in the first side portion of the caliper with the pad formation of the first brake pad engaging a caliper formation of the first portion side of the caliper for transferring braking torque loads from the first brake pad to the first side portion of the caliper. The second brake pad is fitted in the second side portion of the caliper with the first and second circumferential ends of the second brake pad engaging respective first and second circumferentially spaced abutments of the brake assembly for transferring braking torque loads from the second brake pad to the brake assembly.

摘要: A disc brake assembly includes a brake pad having a first pad abutment spaced from a second pad abutment and a third pad abutment positioned between the first pad abutment and the second pad abutment. An actuator is operable to apply a force to the brake pad to apply the brake. The disc brake assembly has a first reaction abutment facing the first pad abutment, a second reaction abutment facing the second pad abutment, and a third reaction abutment facing the third pad abutment. The first, second and third pad abutments are operable to transfer brake pad drag torque to the first, second and third reaction abutments respectively. The disc brake is configured such that under no load conditions with the third pad abutment engaging the third reaction abutment, the first pad abutment is spaced from the first reaction abutment.

摘要: A disc brake includes an actuation mechanism, and first and second brake pad mounting structures to be located, in use, adjacent opposing inboard and outboard faces, respectively, of a brake rotor to be braked. The disc brake further includes first and second brake pads located by the first and second mounting structures, respectively, such that upon application of the actuation mechanism, the brake pads clamp the brake rotor, and brake torque is reacted by the brake pad mounting structures. The first brake pad has a different functional requirement to the second brake pad such that fitment of the first brake pad in the second brake pad mounting structure and/or the second brake pad in the first brake pad mounting structure impairs the safety, functionality or durability of the brake. To prevent or inhibit such incorrect fitting, the first brake pad includes on a peripheral face or a rear face thereof a first formation in such a location that it may only be successfully fitted in the first brake pad mounting structure and only successfully fitted in the correct orientation with the brake fully assembled. The second brake pad includes a second formation different from the first formation such that it may only be successfully fitted in the second brake pad mounting structure and only successfully fitted in the correct orientation with the brake fully assembled.
