摘要： A sliding caliper disk brake is provided, in which a stationary brake carrier configured to carry a brake caliper includes two pairs of carrier horns, one pair of which supports a reaction-side brake pad and one pair of which supports an application side brake pad. The spacing between the reaction-side pair of carrier horns is larger than the spacing between the application-side pair of carrier horns. The reaction-side brake pad and reaction-side pair of carrier horns may be shorter than the corresponding application-side brake pad and carrier horns. The arrangement of the brake carrier, the brake caliper and the brake pads permits reduction in disk brake weight, cost and brake carrier stresses while providing desired brake thermal, mechanical and service life performance.

The U-shaped section has a base leg and opposing upper and lower legs extending from the base leg. The at least one extension portion has an application portion, a transition portion with first and second legs, and a bend connecting the first and second legs. The transition portion extends in a first direction from a side of the U-shaped section. The first and second legs extend in a direction other than the first direction. The bend redirects the application portion from a second direction to a third direction. The second direction is angled from the first direction.

摘要： A caliper brake apparatus includes: a guide plate that supports a brake shoe; an anchor pin that supports the guide plate and is provided in a caliper main body to be free to advance and retreat; a piston provided in the caliper main body to be free to advance and retreat; a piston plate that is fixed to the piston and supported by the anchor pin; an elastic membrane that is provided so as to define a pressure chamber in the caliper main body, and that moves the brake shoe via the piston, the piston plate, and the guide plate; and an intermediate member disposed between the piston plate and the guide plate. The intermediate member is interposed between the piston plate and the guide plate such that a gap is formed between the piston plate and the guide plate.

One contact surface of the at least one pair of contact surfaces is an end surface of a projection, and the other contact surface of the at least one pair of contact surfaces is a bottom surface of a recess.

摘要： A system and method are provided for mounting, removing and retaining brake pads in disc brakes, such as air-operated disc brakes utilized on commercial vehicles, in a manner which does not require the use of separate brake pad retaining devices while providing positive retention of the brake pad. A preferred embodiment includes a brake caliper mount having brake pad abutment surfaces having radially-oriented and lateral grooves which permit a brake pad with corresponding projections on is lateral sides to be inserted through an opening of the brake caliper into the radially-oriented grooves until the backing plate projections are aligned with the lateral groove, and advancing the brake actuator behind the brake pad to place the brake pad in an operating position in which the actuator prevents the brake pad from realigning with the radially-oriented grooves until the actuator is retracted to permit brake pad extraction.
