摘要: Open chambered spacers, implanting tools and methods are provided. The spacers 500′ include a body 505′ having a wall 506′ which defines a chamber 530′ and an opening 531′ in communication with the chamber 530′. In one embodiment the wall 506′ includes a pair of arms 520′, 521′ facing one another and forming a mouth 525′ to the chamber 530′. Preferably, one of the arms 520′ is truncated relative to the other, forming a channel 526. In one aspect the body 505′ is a bone dowel comprising an off-center plug from the diaphysis of a long bone. The tools 800 include spacer engaging means for engaging a spacer and occlusion means for blocking an opening defined in the spacer. In some embodiments, the occlusion means 820 includes a plate 821 extendable from the housing 805. In one specific embodiment the plate 821 defines a groove 822 which is disposed around a fastener 830 attached to the housing 805 so that the plate 821 is slideable relative to the housing 805.

摘要: A 240 volt outlet tester is described. The 240 volt outlet tester includes a housing with three or four prongs extending outwardly from a base of the housing. The prongs are designed so that they can be inserted into either a three or four wire 240 volt outlet. Indicator lights are integrated into the housing. A test circuit is located within the housing. The test circuit is designed to detect whether the 240 volt outlet has been wired correctly. If the 240 volt outlet is correctly wired, all the indicator lights integrated into the housing illuminate. If the 240 volt outlet is improperly wired, one or more indicator lights do not illuminate.

摘要: An interbody fusion device in one embodiment includes a tapered body defining a hollow interior or chamber for receiving bone graft or bone substitute material. The body defines exterior threads which are interrupted over portions of the outer surface of the device. The fusion device includes truncated side walls so that on end view the body takes on a cylindrical form. In another embodiment, the tapered body is solid and formed of a porous biocompatible material having sufficient structural integrity to maintain the intradiscal space and normal curvature. The material is preferably a porous tantalum composite having fully interconnected pores to facilitate complete bone tissue ingrowth into the implant. In further embodiments, the fusion devices are provided with osteogenic material to facilitate bone ingrowth. A cap is also provided to block the opening of hollow fusion devices. The cap includes an occlusion body and an elongated anchor. In some embodiments the anchor includes a lip which is engageable to openings in the body wall.

摘要: A stack, having improved efficiency, for venting exhaust gases from a combustion chamber of a solid fuel burning apparatus, such as a boiler, to a flue. The stack, which can be retrofitted to certain wood burning furnaces or boilers includes an elongated tubular member having a first end, a second end and at least one inlet proximate the first end. The second end of the elongated tubular member defines an outlet which is adapted to register with a flue so as to vent combustion, or exhaust, gases from the combustion chamber to the atmosphere. Further, the stack includes at least one conduit member which is in fluid communication with the first tubular member. The conduit member includes an open end adapted to be in fluid communication with the combustion chamber and an oppositely disposed closed end which is proximate the inlet of the elongated tubular member and is in fluid communication with the inlet of the elongated member. The conduit member(s), defines a channel for communicating exhaust gases from the open end of the conduit member to the inlet of the elongated member creating a tortuous airflow path for combustion gases from the combustion chamber to the chimney via the open end of the conduit member through the outlet of the elongated tubular member to the flue.

摘要: An interbody fusion device in one embodiment includes a tapered body defining a hollow interior or chamber for receiving bone graft or bone substitute material. The body defines exterior threads which are interrupted over portions of the outer surface of the device. The fusion device includes truncated side walls so that on end view the body takes on a cylindrical form. In another embodiment, the tapered body is solid and formed of a porous biocompatible material having sufficient structural integrity to maintain the intradiscal space and normal curvature. The material is preferably a porous tantalum composite having fully interconnected pores to facilitate complete bone tissue ingrowth into the implant. In further embodiments, the fusion devices are provided with osteogenic material to facilitate bone ingrowth. A cap is also provided to block the opening of hollow fusion devices. The cap includes an occlusion body and an elongated anchor. In some embodiments the anchor includes a lip which is engageable to openings in the body wall. Tools are also provided for manipulating caps for interbody fusion devices. In one embodiment the tool includes a pair of prongs each having facing engagement surfaces for engaging the fusion device, and a shaft slidably disposed between the prongs. The shaft has a first end defining a cap-engaging tip for engaging a tool hole in the cap. In one embodiment the cap engaging tip defines threads. In another embodiment the prongs include a pair of releasing members on each of the facing engagement surfaces. The releasing members have a height and a width for being insertable into apertures in a body wall in the fusion device to disengage the elongate anchors from the apertures.

摘要: An interbody fusion device includes a pair of lateral spacers and a pair of central spacers, each sized for percutaneous introduction through a disc resection portal in the disc annulus. Each of the lateral spacers includes opposing side faces defining a channel therein, while each of the central spacers includes arms at their opposite ends configured to be received within a channel of a corresponding lateral spacer. The arms and channels are interlocking to prevent separation of the components once assembled within the intradiscal space. The assembly of the central and lateral spacers defines a cavity therebetween for insertion of bone graft material. The central and lateral spacers are configured so that the bone graft cavity is oriented over the weakest, but most vascular and biologically active, bone of the vertebral body, while the lateral spacers are situated adjacent the disc annulus and over the strongest vertebral bone.
