摘要: Implant assemblies for reverse shoulder arthroplasty are disclosed. In one embodiment, the implant assembly comprises a humeral component, an adaptor fixed to the neck of the humeral component, and a glenosphere bearing component coupled to the adaptor. The glenosphere bearing component comprises a first bearing surface that interfaces with an articulating surface of the adaptor to allow the adaptor to rotate relative to the adaptor and humeral component. The adaptor and the glenosphere bearing component form a locking mechanism that prevents the adaptor from decoupling from the glenosphere bearing component while allowing the adaptor to remain rotatable relative to the glenosphere bearing component after the implant assembly is implanted in the patient The second bearing surface is configured to interface with a glenosphere component to allow the glenosphere bearing component to articulate relative to the glenosphere component.

摘要: A prosthetic stem is configured to reduce the perioperative and intraoperative risk of catastrophic medical complications and death that may be caused by BCIS. The prosthetic stem includes one or more internal channels that are configured to self-regulate intramedullary pressure within a prepared bone channel as the stem is inserted into the channel, thus reducing the likelihood of BCIS without sacrificing biomechanics and maintaining a reliable and repeatable implantation process. The stem includes a head and a body, wherein the head is configured to serve as a joint replacement and the body is configured for insertion into the prepared bone channel of a patient. One or more internal channels in the stem are configured to control the pressure within the prepared bone channel during insertion of the stem into the channel, particularly by forming a path through which excess cement may flow as the stem proceeds into the prepared bone channel. By so limiting pressurization of cement during this process, the risk of BCIS complications and other potential harmful effects are reduced while still maintaining sufficient fixation of the prosthetic stem in the prepared bone channel.

摘要: An expandable fusion device may include a first endplate and a second endplate. The expandable fusion device may also include first and second ramps configured to mate with both the first and second endplates. The first ramp may include a mating feature having a first angle relative to a vertical axis, and the second ramp may include a mating feature having a second angle relative to the vertical axis such that the first angle is different from the second angle. In particular, the first and second ramps may be configured to provide for symmetrical expansion of the first and second endplates.

摘要: An orthopaedic prosthesis is disclosed. The orthopaedic prosthesis includes a frame including a plurality of beams defining an open-cell structure and a shell applied to the frame. The frame includes a proximal arm, a distal arm, and a central body connecting the proximal arm to the distal arm. The shell extends over the proximal arm, the distal arm, and the central body of the frame. A method of implanting an orthopaedic prosthesis is also disclosed.

The prosthetic heart valve may be configured to have a generally rigid and/or expansion-resistant configuration when initially implanted to replace a native valve (or other prosthetic heart valve), but to assume a generally expanded form when subjected to an outward force such as that provided by a dilation balloon or other mechanical expander.

摘要: Described herein are cords (or sutures) and methods for using cords wherein the cords comprise a synthetic aromatic polyamide (or aramid) polymer, wherein the cords comprise a core of a high-strength material such as a polymer (e.g., PET), aramid, ceramic, or metal with a coating of ePTFE encapsulating the core, or wherein the cords comprise braided strands of ePTFE. The disclosed cords have higher strength and durability than typical ePTFE cords or sutures. Furthermore, disclosed herein are methods that utilize the disclosed cords in cardiac repairs, thereby resulting in repairs that are superior to repairs that utilize typical ePTFE cords.

摘要: The present invention provides an expandable fusion device capable of being installed inside an intervertebral disc space to maintain normal disc spacing and restore spinal stability, thereby facilitating an intervertebral fusion. In one embodiment, the fusion device includes body, a first endplate, and a second endplate, a middle ramp piece, a stem, and two ramp pins. The middle ramped piece is operable to move to generate lordotic expansion of the first and second endplates followed by parallel expansion. The fusion device is operable to be deployed down an endoscopic tube.
