Abstract:
A rooftop electrical boot for electrical service entrance to a building is described which allows it to be installed on a building without the electric power to the building being shut off and without the need to hire an electrician to connect or to disconnect electric power lines to the building. This goal is achieved with a boot containing a sealable slit that allows access to the electric conduit hole of the boot from outside the boot's base without the need to thread power lines through the hole itself.
Abstract:
A fail-safe lighting system which includes provision for setting priorities or sequences of operation for different lights or sets of lights. When normal power is interrupted, all or a selected number of lights remain lit and/or are dimmed, thus providing a first level of illumination during a predetermined period of time. However, when a selected interval of time has elapsed and the level of charge remaining on the battery or batteries which supply power during the interruption decreases, preselected one or ones of the lights are progressively dimmed or disconnected from the battery acccording to a predetermined schedule. Thus, the time during which one or more extremely critical lights remain lit can be substantially extended without depleting the charge on the battery.
Abstract:
A leg support assembly for a table includes a leg support member, which receives and retains a table leg, and a connector which is attachable to the underside of a table top. The support member has a plurality of plugs which are receivable in sockets provided in the connector plate. When the connector plates are fastened to the corners of two abutting table tops, the leg support member can be mated with two connector plates thereby spanning the joint between the tables and providing support for a single leg. Thereby, the duplication of legs at the table joint is eliminated.
Abstract:
A thermally treated steel is provided comprising a steel having a microhardness of between approximately 60 and 67 HRC at a surface depth between approximately 0.002 to 0.014 inches from the steel surface and having approximately 0-36% by volume martensite converted from retained austenite at the surface depth. The steel may be used for ANSI 60 pins used in roller chain that may maintain elongation of less than 0.040 inches for up to 264 hours of wear testing. A method of making the steel pins is provided that comprises the steps of carburizing the steel in an atmosphere of 1.00% carbon or greater at a temperature between 1550° and 1750° F., quenching the steel to room temperature, tempering the steel to a temperature of 375° F. or less, cryogenically treating the steel to a temperature of −300° F. or lower and tempering the steel to a temperature of 375° F. or less.
Abstract:
A modular fail-safe uninterruptible lighting system in which lights are identified singly and/or in clusters to form separately controllable entities. Each entity is provided with a modular receiver that is individually controllable to any of six selected states; and one or more modular switched logic controllers is provided to produce signals individually representing the six states. These signals are conducted from the switched logic controllers to the receivers at relatively low control voltages so as to cause the entities to function according to selected states when an outage occurs on the normal lighting system power source.
Abstract:
A fail safe power supply system specially adapted for supplying power to devices such as lights. A battery is provided to supply power to the devices, and during normal operation, charge on the battery is maintained within selected levels by a charging control system that is connected to a source of commercial power. During a commercial power outage, the battery continues to supply normal power to the devices for a prolonged period of time, usually until commercial power is restored, thus obviating the necessity for a separate backup power source.

Abstract:
A panel interlock system for connecting a plurality of wall panels together is disclosed. A locking clip is attached to the vertical edges of each wall panel. A vertical filler tube is used to connect adjacent wall panels together. The vertical filler tube is disposed between wall panels and slid down over locking clips which engage inner grooves extending through the length of the vertical filler tube. The vertical filler tube engages the locking clips in a concealed cam-action fastening technique.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a color silver halide photographic element comprising gelatin, a support bearing at least one dye image forming unit selected from a dye image forming unit comprising at least one red sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith a dye-forming coupler, a dye image forming unit comprising at least one green sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith a dye-forming coupler, and a dye image forming unit comprising at least one blue sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith a dye-forming coupler; and a polymer represented by Formula 1. wherein: A independently represents a bond or a group linking the polymer chain to the SO3−M+ group(s), R1 independently represents H or a lower alkyl group of from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, M+ independently represents an alkali or alkaline earth metal ion or an ammonium or substituted ammonium ion, Z independently represents at least one ethylenically unsaturated, hydrophilic monomer, and a and b represent the weight percent of the respective monomers where a is between 0 and 95%, b is between 5 and 100%, and n is 1 or 2; and wherein the average molecular weight of the polymer is less than about 300,000 and the total amount of the polymer contained in the silver halide element is greater than 1.0% of the total amount of gelatin contained in the silver halide element. It further relates to a method of processing said element.
Abstract:
A mounting device for supporting data receptacles within an office partition panel of a type comprising rigid frame members interconnected by pairs of spaced parallel tube members comprises a body portion having two spaced resilient latch arms extending from a first side of the body portion, each arm having an inclined edge directed laterally outwardly of the body portion. The first side also has at least one resilient latch arm having an inclined edge directed in an opposite direction from the. direction of the inclined edges of the first two latch arms. A frame member for supporting a data receptacle is mounted to a second side of the body member. The latch arms are configured to snap into and lock between two parallel adjacent tubes of an office partition panel and, thereby, support a receptacle within the panel.
