Fe2(dobdc) has a metal-organic framework with a high density of coordinatively-unsaturated FeII centers lining the pore surface. It can be effectively used to separate O2 from N2 and in a number of additional separation applications based on selective, reversible electron transfer reactions. In addition to being an effective O2 separation material, it can be used for many other processes, including paraffin/olefin separation, nitric oxide/nitrous oxide separation, acetylene storage, and as an oxidation catalyst.

A rotational device (12) mounted in the housing (22) provides rotational motion about one or more horizontal axes. The rotational device (12) includes one or more paddles (13-16) which extend outwardly with respect to the rotation axis forming a substantial sealing engagement with the opposed inner faces of the side walls of the housing. The scraper wall and rotational device are arranged such that when immersed in water, the paddle(s) (13-16) may be rotated to become at least partly submerged and the outer periphery(ies) engage with the scraper wall to lift a portion of the water and scum above the natural level of the water.

The ONUs also include data cards coupled to the broadband cards via a bus. The data cards are configured to communicate over end user communications links to end user nodes.

A method and system detects a network connection in a communications system, such as a narrowband communications system, using Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) identification. In one embodiment, a first node transmits a message to a specific second node among a group of second nodes. The message from the first node includes a source Medium Access Control (MAC) address, a broadcast address, and a unique VLAN identification corresponding to a port on the first node. The specific second node processes the message, and then transmits its own MAC address to the first node, along with the unique VLAN identification received in the original message from the first node. The first node then updates stored information about the second node and uses the information in future communications to the second node.
