摘要: Contrast agent destruction transmissions have reduced biological effect in medical diagnostic ultrasound. Ramping-up amplitude and/or ramping-down frequency reduce biological effect. The amplitude ramps up linearly or non-linearly. The change in amplitude or frequency occurs over a single waveform or over a sequence of separate transmissions. An envelope of the single waveform or the sequence of separate transmissions has a non-uniform, asymmetrical, symmetrical, rectangular or other shape. For example, the frequency ramp-down is provided with a non-Gaussian envelope. The amplitude ramp-up or frequency ramp-down is a progressively increasing destructive characteristic or ability, destroying contrast agent at different regions relative to focal regions with a minimum of acoustic energy.

摘要: The embodiments described herein relate to stepping through the stages of a protocol using an input device and a protocol controller for a medical diagnostic imaging system. The protocol controller may be operative to transition from one stage to a next stage in the protocol in response to no more than a single input from the input device. Thus, a single input from the input device may indicate to the protocol controller to transition to each of the stages of the protocol. In one embodiment, the same single input, such as a stage transition input, is received to transition to each stage of the at least two sequential stages. In another embodiment, different single input, such as different keys on a keyboard, may be used to transition to different stages of the at least two sequential stages. Other embodiments are provided, and each of the embodiments described herein can be used alone or in combination with one another.

摘要: A method and system for contrast agent image beamformation is provided. The acoustic energy of transmit beams is spread laterally to reduce contrast agent destruction. For example, a smaller aperture is provided for contrast agent imaging than for a default imaging mode. As another example, an apodization profile with a low amplitude for edge elements for contrast agent imaging is used as compared to the edge elements for a default imaging mode. As yet another example, the focal point used for contrast agent imaging is set to be outside of the region of interest (e.g. a shallow or deep focal point).

摘要: A pulse echo beamforming system generates high spatial bandwidth ultrasound images using only a few transmit/receive events per frame. Each transmit/receive event consists of firing an unfocused or weakly focused wave and receiving and storing the echo on every receive channel. Each set of stored echoes is delayed and apodized to form component beams for each desired image point in the region insonified by that particular wave. The final images are synthesized by adding two or more of the component beams for each image point.

摘要: An ultrasonic imaging system includes a receiver which demodulates the echo signals received by a transducer array and dynamically focuses the baseband echo signals, and a color flow processor which includes an adaptive wall filter in the form of a circular convolution filter that enables a narrow band of wall signals to be removed without loss of data samples. The mean frequency of the resulting filtered baseband echo signals is used to indicate the velocity of flowing reflectors and to control color of the displayed image.

摘要: An apparatus for monitoring the curing of a fiber reinforced composite plastic which is cured at temperatures of the order of 350.degree. C. and an ultrasonic transducer assembly useful in the apparatus. The transducer assembly comprises a lithium niobate piezoelectric element having anisotropic coefficients of thermal expansion which is mounted on a metal base of the transducer assembly by means of a layer of structured copper. The structured copper is thermo-compression diffusion bonded to the lithium niobate element and to the metal base, and is compliant in a transverse direction to compensate for differential thermal expansions while affording good electrical and thermal conductivity and good acoustic coupling between the lithium niobate element and metal base.

摘要: Transducer with different array configurations and methods of using the transducers are provided. An electrode layer on one side of a transducer device defines a one-dimensional array of elements. An electrode layer on an opposite side of the transducer device defines a multi-dimensional array. For example, one transducer device may be used for both two-dimensional imaging and three-dimensional imaging in response to the one-dimensional array and multi-dimensional array electrode configurations. Real time three-dimensional imaging and two-dimensional imaging may be provided with a single transducer. As another example, elements defined by one electrode configuration have a different surface area than elements defined by another electrode configuration. The different configurations on opposite sides of the transducer devices may be a same type (e.g. both one-dimensional arrays) or different types.

摘要: An improved two-dimensional ultrasonic transducer array is provided by forming a plurality of elongated transducer strips each including a central body of piezoelectric material having mounted thereon a conducting inner matching layer and outer matching layer, a conducting inner backing layer and a nonconducting lossy outer backing layer, depositing a conducting film on the outer surface and one side surface of the outer matching layer and into electrical contact with the conducting backing layer of each strip and depositing a plurality of conducting films in space relation to one another on the back surface and one side surface of the lossy backing layer and into electrical contact with the conducting backing layer to provide an electric circuit to the front and back faces of the piezoelectric layer. The strips are then assembled in spaced parallel relation with insulating strips bonded therebetween, and grooves are cut transversely of the transducer strip through the matching layers, the piezoelectric layer, the inner backing layer and into but not through the lossy backing layer to thereby provide an array of individual transducers arranged in spaced parallel rows with conducting films extending from the face and back surfaces of each transducer to provide an independent electrical circuit to each transducer in the array.

摘要: A catheter based ultrasound imaging system is disclosed which is capable of providing images of coronary vessels at frequencies near 50 MHz. The catheter based system implements a Synthetic Aperture Focusing Technique (SAFT) by scanning through a miniature ultrasound transducer array to sequentially select and fully multiplex a subset of array elements to operate as a sub-aperture of the total synthetic aperture on each firing; thus reducing the number of required catheter interconnections. Each synthetic aperture array is dynamically and retrospectively focused to accommodate precision imaging at high frequency without conventional signal to noise losses.
