Abstract: Described is a medical dressing that includes a backing layer, a body contact layer and a gel pad arranged between the backing layer and the body contact layer, wherein the backing layer and the body contact layer extend beyond a periphery of the gel pad to define a border portion around a contour of the pad, wherein the gel has a compressive strength of from 1 to 30 kPa at a strain of 25% and/or a compressive strength of from 5 to 70 kPa at a strain of 50%, as measured according to ASTM D3574-11, test C.

Abstract: A medical dressing is described for prevention of pressure ulcers. The dressing has a gel pad and an anisotropic layer being stiffer in one layer direction. The dressing reduces the shear and compression forces on the skin and in the underlying the soft tissue layers and prevents the onset of pressure ulcers.

Abstract: A mobile negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) device is described having an inlet to be in fluid flow connection with a wound site; a canister in fluid flow connection with the inlet for collection of liquid from the wound site; a pump in fluid flow connection with the canister for establishing a negative pressure in the canister; a pressure sensor arranged to sense a pressure in the canister; and control circuitry for controlling operation of the NPWT device. The control circuitry is configured to: initiate a test sequence for the NPWT device; acquire a first signal indicating the pressure in the canister; evaluate the first signal; when the acquired first signal indicates a pressure less negative than a predefined threshold pressure: control the pump to operate during a predefined time period; acquire a second signal after the predefined time period; proceed with the start-up test sequence; and when the acquired signal indicates a pressure more negative than the predefined threshold pressure: proceed with the start-up test sequence without controlling the pump to operate during the predefined time period.

Abstract: Described is a fiber material having a substrate of non-ionic, non-woven fibers, and at least one additional component, which is an agent that comprises at least one group capable of forming a hydrogen bond, wherein the non-ionic, non-woven fibers are crosslinked by the agent. The fiber material can be of use in various fields, in particular household products, hygiene products and the like, these fiber materials are of particular use in wound treatment.

Abstract: Described is a system for controlling the sizing of a rising foam emulsion web travelling on a conveyor. The system includes a plate arrangement and an actuating arrangement. The plate arrangement includes at least a first and a second plate, each having a web-facing lower side and an opposite upper side. The second plate is configured to be located downstream of the first plate with respect to the direction of travel of the foam emulsion web. The actuating arrangement includes a base portion and a top portion. The top portion is movable relative to the base portion and operatively connected to the plate arrangement. The actuating arrangement is configured to individually adjust for each plate a separating distance relative to the base portion, for controlling the rising of the foam emulsion web along at least a part of its travel.
