    摘要: The invention relates to a pressure vessel comprising a twopiece shell with a flexible sealing separator dividing the internal volume of the shell into two chambers. Each shell portion is provided with a substantially cylindrical mating portion of increased internal diameter extending around its mating edge, with the mating edges of the two shells being united with one another and wherein the peripheral edge of the flexible sealing separator is trapped between two mating edges and between an internal metal ring member. The invention further provides a resilent hydropneumatic vehicle wheel suspension unit incorporating such a pressure vessel.

    摘要: The invention provides a diaphragm-type hydraulic displacer unit of the kind which includes a piston-like member arranged to move inwardly and outwardly of a cylinder-like member, the annular gap between the piston and cylinder being bridged by a flexible diaphragm and in which during operation the ration between the maximum stroke of which the unit is capable and the maximum effective bore of the diaphragm, occurring in operation, is at least 1.2 : 1, and may be 2 : 1 or more, and in which during all operative conditions the pressure across the unsupported diaphragm loops exceeds 100 pounds per square inch. The invention is concerned with ensuring longevity of the diaphragm in such a unit and provides that the unit shall have the following features in combination: A. THE FLARED FLANKS OF THE PISTON AND THE INNER WALL OF THE CYLINDER SKIRT ARE TAPERED IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS SUCH THAT OVER THE MAXIMUM STROKE PERMITTED IN OPERATION, THE EFFECTIVE BORE OF THE DIAPHRAGM INCREASES AS THE PISTON MOVES INWARDLY OF THE CYLINDER AND SUCH THAT THE DIMENSION OF THE EFFECTIVE BORE OF THE DIAPHRAGM, WHEN THE PISTON IS IN ITS INNERMOST POSITION IS BETWEEN 15 PERCENT AND 25 PERCENT GREATER THAN THE DIMENSION OF THE EFFECTIVE BORE OF THE DIAPHRAGM WHEN THE PISTON IS IN THE OUTERMOST POSITION OF ITS PERMITTED STROKE; B. THE PISTON FLANKS AND THE INNER WALL OF THE SKIRT ARE SO CONSTRUCTED THAT THE RATIO BETWEEN THE EFFECTIVE BORE OF THE DIAPHRAGM AND THE LOOP RADIUS OF THE DIAPHRAGM WILL ALWAYS BE GREATER THAN 11 : 1 THROUGHOUT THE PERMITTED STROKE, WITH THE LOOP RADIUS BEING MAINTAINED SUBSTANTIALLY CONSTANT WITHIN 10 PERCENT THROUGHOUT THE PERMITTED STROKE; C. THAT THE DIAPHRAGM IS INITIALLY MOULDED IN THE SHAPE WHICH IT WOULD BE FORCED TO ADOPT WHEN THE PISTON IS ADVANCED TO A POSITION FURTHER INTO THE CYLINDER THAN WOULD BE OCCASIONED DURING ITS NORMAL OPERATION IN THE PERMITTED STROKE; D. THE CORD REINFORCEMENT OF THE DIAPHRAGM CONSISTS OF AT LEAST TWO PLIES HAVING A BIAS ANGLE OF BETWEEN 30* AND 50* INCLUSIVE; E. THE THICKNESS OF THE DIAPHRAGM IS SUCH THAT THE RATIO BETWEEN THE LOOP RADIUS OF THE DIAPHRAGM AND THE THICKNESS OF THE DIAPHRAGM IS ALWAYS GREATER THAN 2 : 1 THROUGHOUT THE PERMITTED STROKE.

    摘要: The invention relates to a rubber flap type damper valve for use in controlling liquid flow in a hydraulic suspension unit, each rubber flap of the valve being pre-compressed by rigid means into engagement with a ported wall to cover port means in the wall, the rigid means in conjunction with the wall bearing against and confining the major part of the external surface of the rubber flap so that when the flap deforms in response to liquid pressure to at least partially uncover its associated port means, such deformation takes place primarily in compression. The invention further relates to a hydro-pneumatic suspension unit incorporating such a rubber flap type damper valve.
