Abstract: A suspension system for a vehicle is provided. A linear regenerative suspension system that converts mechanical energy into storable electrical energy is also provided. The system utilizes pistons, one on each side of the vehicle, engaged with a vehicle body at a distal end and having a fluid chamber at the proximal end. The system further has a central chamber having a rod freely laterally moving therein. A fluid communicates between the central chamber and each piston fluid chamber. Upon nonlinear forces applied to the vehicle, the rod is urged in one direction or another. This urging applies force to the fluid in the central chamber, and in turn, to the piston in the corresponding side of the vehicle, urging the piston up and in turn urging the vehicle body up.

Abstract: A damper assembly for a suspension system of an associated vehicle. The damper assembly comprises a cylindrical tube extending along an axis and defining a chamber. A piston is located in the chamber and is moveable along the axis in a compression direction and a rebound direction. The piston includes a piston rod extending from a first end to a piston head. A rebound stop is located on the piston rod between the first end and the piston head. A hydraulic rebound stop (“HRS”) piston is located in a HRS chamber. A rebound spring biasing the HRS piston towards the adaptor plate in the HRS chamber. The piston rod is slideably received within the HRS piston in the rebound direction until the rebound stop contacts the rebound head and causes the rebound spring to compress.

Abstract: The present invention discloses an adaptive damping nonlinear spring-variable damping system and a mobile platform system, with the nonlinear spring-variable damping system applied to the mobile platform. The nonlinear spring-variable damping system is characterized in that the system comprises: an oil cylinder accommodating damping oil; a piston, accommodated in the oil cylinder and movable along the oil cylinder to make the damping oil flow; at least one connecting rod, connected to the piston; at least one spring, whose deformation process is constrained by the connecting rod; and a damping adaptive adjustment device, configured to be able to adaptively change the flow resistance of the damping oil according to the vibration of the mobile platform, so as to control the system damping; wherein, when the mobile platform vibrates, the connecting rod and the spring can subject the piston to a nonlinear spring force. The amplitude of the nonlinear spring-variable damping system, compared with the linear spring-damping system, is greatly suppressed.

Abstract: A damper includes a cylinder, an annular rod guide, an annular seat, a rod, an annular oil seal, a rebound cushion, and a communication passage. The cylinder houses an action chamber. The rod guide is secured to one side opening of the cylinder. The seat is secured to the rod guide. The rod is inserted through inner peripheral sides of the rod guide and the seat. The oil seal is held to an inner periphery of the rod guide and slidably in contact with an outer peripheral surface of the rod. The rebound cushion bumps against the seat. The communication passage transmits a pressure in the action chamber to the oil seal. An opening on the communication passage on the action chamber side is disposed on an outer peripheral side relative to a part of the seat against which the rebound cushion bumps.

Abstract: A hydraulic actuator assembly is configured to receive a pressurized fluid from a pump. The hydraulic actuator assembly includes a housing and a piston arranged concentrically with respect to a longitudinal axis, wherein the housing is configured to receive a first portion of the pressurized fluid to displace the piston relative to the housing. The hydraulic actuator assembly also includes a sleeve arranged concentrically with respect to the housing and to the piston, and configured to restrain the piston relative to the housing and receive a second portion of the pressurized fluid from the pump to selectively release the piston. A vehicle including a suspension corner connecting the vehicle's road wheel to the vehicle's body, the fluid pump, and the subject hydraulic actuator assembly to change the vehicle's ride height at the suspension corner is also disclosed. The vehicle may also include a controller configured to control the actuator assembly.

Abstract: A damper housing disposed on a center axis includes an extended mains section and a narrowed end section. The narrowed end section has a second predetermined wall thickness less than the first predetermined wall thickness of the extended main section. An intermediate conical section, connecting the narrowed end section and the extended main section, has an intermediate conical section wall thickness equal to the second predetermined wall thickness at an internal inclination angle relative to the center axis. A method for manufacturing the damper housing using a preformed tube, a first broaching die, a calibrating mandrel, and a swaging die is performed by compressing the preformed tube between the first broaching die and the narrowed head of the calibrating mandrel and compressing the preformed tube between the swaging die and the intermediary section of the calibrating mandrel to form the narrowed end section and the intermediate conical section, respectively.
