摘要: An electromagnetic structure is fabricated by additive manufacturing having at least one channel traversing the structure. In one embodiment, at least one form contains apertures and/or holes forming the channel and a liquid metal traverses the structure by the channel. Electrodes are provided to apply or extract electrical voltage or power to and/or from the liquid metal as well as a mechanism for propelling a portion of the liquid metal through the form. In an alternative embodiment, both the electrically insulating and the electrically conductive materials are solid and the channel is used for conducting a coolant instead of the liquid metal.

摘要: An electrically conductive, compliant elastomer material that is impregnated with a metal is formed by combining a metal salt with an elastomer precursor material to form a metal salt/precursor mixture, curing the metal salt/precursor mixture to form an elastomer impregnated with metal salt, and treating the elastomer impregnated with metal salt with a chemical reducing composition so as to convert at least a portion of the metal salt impregnated within the elastomer to a metal. The elastomer can be subjected to a suitable solvent that swells the elastomer during the chemical reduction of the metal salt to metal, which enhances the mechanical and electrical properties of the resultant metal impregnated elastomer material.

摘要: An apparatus and a method for separating or sorting parts are described. For example, an apparatus can include a fluidic section that comprises an input section. The fluidic section can be configured to receive a fluid including a plurality of parts at the input section. The fluidic section can be configured to receive the fluid at an inlet port of the fluidic section. The fluidic section can include at least two branches extending from the input section, and each of these at least two branches can have an outlet through which the fluid or part of the fluid can be routed. The apparatus can include a set of sensors configured to capture information about the plurality of parts in the fluidic section. The apparatus can further include a set of actuators configured to effect, based on the information, a change in a movement of a set of parts from the plurality of parts such that the set of parts is distributed via the fluid to at least one of the at least two branches.

摘要: A method and apparatus for assessing the time since demise of one or more tissue components, comprising a source of radiation to generate excitatory radiation toward a tissue component, the tissue component generating responsive radiation in response to the excitatory radiation, a sensor to receive the responsive radiation from the tissue component and create a signal indicating the rate of change (over time) of the responsive radiation, a processor connected to the sensor to receive the signal from the sensor, and wherein the processor evaluates the received signal and provides information whereby a user can assess the time since demise of the tissue component based on responsive radiation generated by the tissue component as a result of excitation of at least one intrinsic tissue component metabolic product.
