A user selectable or automatic switch or similar contrivance that simultaneously directs the input and output devices to either solely the “smart” or “dumb” electronic circuitry/processor/brain. Thus providing a backup capability from the “dumb” electronic circuitry in the case of a malware infection or malfunction of the “smart” electronic circuitry/processor/“brain” of the device. By way of example a switch installed into a “smart” phone that can select a less capable, likely non field programmable, circuitry/processor/ “brain” that is capable of providing essential functions such as placing a phone call, or summoning emergency responders.

    摘要: A flexible, steerable intravascular catheter includes an elongate flexible shaft having a heterogeneous or multi-zone stiffness profile or structure. A first or distal portion of the catheter shaft may have a substantially constant or distinct stiffness or flexibility, a second, intermediate or transition section is proximal relative to, and less flexible than, the first section, and a third section is proximal relative to, and also less more flexible than, the first section. The third section also includes a substantially constant or distinct stiffness or flexibility. The flexibility or stiffness of the second section varies along its length, e.g., in a substantially linear, step-like or ramp-like manner to provide a smooth or gradual transition between the stiffness of the first or distal section and the flexibility or stiffness of the third or proximal section.

    摘要: This invention in the broadest sense comprises a ski boot, freely pivoting at the ankle, in combination with an adjustable suspension shock absorber to control and optimize compression and rebound damping characteristics. In the preferred embodiment, the ski boot would comprise a rigid, pivoting exoskeleton (providing the lateral stiffness and torsional control), a sub-boot (providing padding, thermal insulation, and water-proofing), and a fully adjustable pneumatic/hydraulic/spring suspension system (providing adjustable fore-aft stiffness, shock absorption, and rebound damping). The object of the invention is to optimize ski boot performance by separating the necessary boot components, allowing them to be designed to optimize different performance characteristics.

    摘要: Disclosed herein, among other things, are methods and apparatus related to radio frequency (RF) ablation catheters. The present subject matter provides an ablation catheter system including a catheter body with a distal tip, and a thermocouple component at the distal tip. The thermocouple component is adapted to sense temperature of bodily fluid and/or tissue. The system includes a non-conductive insert configured to physically separate and thermally insulate the thermocouple component from the catheter body. Various embodiments include an open-irrigated ablation catheter system, the system further including at least one fluid chamber and a plurality of irrigation ports within the catheter body, where the plurality of irrigation ports enable fluid to exit from the at least one fluid chamber. The non-conductive insert is further configured to physically separate and thermally insulate the thermocouple component from the plurality of fluid flow channels and irrigation ports.
