摘要: A method and apparatus of examining fetal hearts includes obtaining ultrasound data of a fetal heart to generate fetal heart images, displaying different marked sample images of a fetal heart and at respective cardiac phases, each marking a different feature of a fetal heart at a respective marked location, and sequentially presenting one of the different marked sample images to a user along with one of the fetal heart images that is a similar view. As each of the different marked sample images is sequentially presented, a user is prompted to mark the different feature in a respective fetal heart image based on its marked location to create a plurality of marked fetal heart images, and a geometric model of the heart is generated based on the marked fetal heart images, from which fetal echocardiography views can be extracted. The fetal echocardiography views of the fetal heart are displayed.

摘要: Among other things, there is disclosed structure and methods for maintaining access to a location in the body while reducing or eliminating the potential for pulling an access device (e.g. a catheter) back through an opening. An introducer sheath includes a distal indented portion and a balloon, so that once placed in a desired location through tissue, the balloon can be inflated to anchor the sheath against retraction. In particular embodiments, structure and methods for accessing the pericardial cavity via the right atrial appendage are shown.

摘要: A computer-implemented method for automatically generating a fully quantitative myocardial blood flow map, comprising: receiving myocardial perfusion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images and arterial input function (AIF) MRI images; correcting a motion of a heart in the myocardial perfusion MRI images and the AIF MRI images, thereby obtaining motion corrected myocardial perfusion MRI images and motion corrected AIF images; correcting an intensity of the motion corrected myocardial perfusion MRI images and an intensity of the motion corrected AIF images, thereby obtaining surface coil intensity corrected MRI images and surface coil intensity corrected AIF images; using the surface coil intensity corrected MRI images and the surface coil intensity corrected AIF images, determining time-signal intensity characteristics and segmenting a left ventricle myocardial tissue region; and generating the myocardial blood flow map using the motion corrected myocardial perfusion MRI images, the left ventricle myocardial tissue region segmentation and the time-signal intensity characteristics.

摘要: Novel human interleukin-2 (IL-2) muteins or variants thereof are provided. In particular, provided are IL-2 muteins that have an increased binding capacity for IL-2Rβ receptor and a decreased binding capacity for IL-2Rγc receptor, as compared to wild-type IL-2. Such IL-2 muteins are useful, for example, as IL-2 partial agonist and antagonists in applications where reduction or inhibition of one or more IL-2 and/or IL-15 functions is useful (e.g., in the treatment of graft versus host disease (GVHD) and adult T cell leukemia). Also provided are nucleic acids encoding such IL-2 muteins, methods of making such IL-2 muteins, pharmaceutical compositions that include such IL-2 muteins and methods of treatment using such pharmaceutical compositions.

摘要: A method for generating a perfusion weighted image using ASL with segmented acquisitions includes dividing an anatomical area of interest into slices and performing an EPI acquisition process using an MRI system to acquire a control image dataset representative of the slices. An ASL preparation process is performed using the MRI system to magnetically label protons in arterial blood water upstream from the anatomical area of interest. Following a first time period, a multi-band EPI acquisition process is performed using the MRI system to acquire a first labeled image dataset representative of a first subset of the slices. Following a second time period, another multi-band EPI acquisition process is performed using the MRI system to acquire a second labeled image dataset representative of a second subset of the slices. A perfusion weighted image is generated by subtracting the first and second labeled image dataset from the control image dataset.

摘要: The present invention provides a panel of at least five clinical analyses or tests (using serum samples) to determine the risk of pediatric acute-onset neuropsychiatric syndrome (PANS) and/or pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorder associated with streptococcal infection (PANDAS) in an individual. These include enzyme linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) to measure antibody titers against neuronal antigens present in the brain; the neuronal antigens include lysoganglioside, tubulin, dopamine receptor D1, dopamine receptor D2, serotonin receptor 5HT2A, and serotonin receptor 5HT2C. Antibody titers against at least four of these neuronal antigens are required in the present methods; preferably antibody tiers against all of these neuronal antigens are measured. A final assay is used to quantify calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase activity using a neuronal cell line. The results of these analyses or tests are then combined using an algorithm to determine whether a PANS or PANDAS diagnosis is appropriate for the individual. Depending on the diagnosis, an appropriate treatment can be determined.
